Peltier Hopes To Break Runner-Up Curse In PASS South At Hickory

Concord, NC — There have been a few guys that have become synonymous with the PASS South Super Late Model Series.  Just a few names have made every single start since the inception on the series in 2006.  One of those is Concord, North Carolina’s Preston Peltier.

Peltier has quite a track record in his PASS South career.  In 13 races, Peltier has earned three top-fives, six top-10s and a series-leading five poles.  But that doesn’t quite tell the whole story.  If there was a category for “near wins,” Peltier would easily have a number that closely matches the 13 PASS South races he has run.

Teach Your Children

One thing NHIS brings to our attention is family. More times than not we see entire families come to enjoy racing and compete as families. We even bring our families to minister and help us out during the four-day event each summer and fall. The question came to mind this weekend, how are we teaching our families, specifically our children, the right way to conduct themselves and handle themselves? Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

You do not have to look too far to see how the racing tradition has been handed down from generation to generation. Many times there is as many as three generations of family represented at the track. In a few cases that climbs to four! Grandfathers, grandmothers, fathers, mothers, husbands, wives, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, Think about that for a moment, four generations of a family enjoying the same sport at the same time in the same place. We are not only a racing family but we are families racing. It makes me feel good to walk down pit road and see grandmothers rooting their grandchildren on.

True Value Modifieds Head to Thompson for Mod Mania Event

Two weeks ago this Sunday, when a drenching rain forced the starting lineup of the True Value Modified Racing Series to the speedway infield after two laps of competition, Andy Seuss, Hampstead, NH; thought his early lead and a shot at his first win of the season was over. The initial makeup date announced by the speedway operatives was Saturday night Sept 22, a day marked on the Seuss calendar for a family wedding. Andy planned to watch his brother, Steve Jr, “go down the aisle” never figuring he’d be the guy bringing the TVMRS field down the aisle, (the long front straightaway) when the race resumed at the historic Connecticut oval.

All that changed when the speedway’s management, made an adjustment to the schedule, to avoid racing the same day as the historic Race of Champions event in upstate New York, another major program for modified race cars. The conclusion of the “Sunoco Race Fuels Mod Mania” weekend will take place this Sunday with the TVMRS picking up where it left and completing the 75 lap feature race. The green flag to restart the event will drop at 2:30PM.

Tim Jordan Returns to His Winning Ways at Waterford

Waterford, CT — Early in the 2007 season, Tim Jordan won four Late Model races at Waterford Speedbowl (CT). Since then, his #47 team has struggled with handling issues on their car after a mid-season. They’ve searched high and low for answers – realigning the front end geometry of their Late Model and going through it multiple times to find why it isn’t handling like it used to.

Usually, that has led to struggles on the racetrack. But not on this past Saturday night. That is when Jordan broke through his slump to win his fifth Waterford feature of the season.

Loudon, NH — Brad Leighton made a late-race rally to finish the Aubuchon Hardware 125 at New Hampshire International Speedway in the seventh position. “We were tight all day long,” said Leighton. “We pitted for tires and made an adjustment and we gave it all we had. We were running 280 degrees the last 12 laps so that isn’t good. I didn’t want to push it too hard because I didn’t want to destroy the motor for seventh place. We had a top-10 car today, but we really had to work for it.”
