Ryan Posocco Looking Forward to NE Dodge Dealers Late Model 100 at Stafford on May 9th

Stafford Springs, CT — Stafford Motor Speedway’s Late Model division will take center stage early in the 2008 season on Friday, May 9th for the 14th Annual New England Dodge Dealers Late Model 100. When it comes to extra distance Late Model racing at Stafford, few drivers can claim the success that Ryan Posocco has found.

With a normal Late Model feature distance covering 30-laps, Posocco has excelled when the feature distance exceeds that 30-lap number. Posocco has two career 50-lap feature wins, two career Late Model 100 wins, and a single Late Model 150 win. During the 2003 season, Posocco won both the 100 and 150 lap events in the same season, a feat that has never been matched in Stafford’s long and storied history. Posocco says the reason for his extra distance prowess is simple.

“I just think the extra distance races suit my driving style,” said Posocco. “In the 30-lap races, you have to be real aggressive to get to the front. In the extra distance races, you can be more patient and take your time getting to the front, which is what really fits my driving style.”

Posocco has teamed with the Marcia Kretschman owned #48 team that won the Late Model 100 a year ago with Woody Pitkat behind the wheel. With Pitkat serving as Posocco’s teammate in the #18 car that Pitkat won the Spring Sizzler feature with, Posocco likes his chances of recording his third career Late Model 100 victory this season.

“There’s a lot of great competition out there for sure,” says Posocco. “The 48 team has great equipment, Woody showed everybody how good the equipment was at the Sizzler this year, so I think our chances have to be pretty good for this year’s race. It definitely helps to have a teammate that you can share ideas with. Hopefully we can take some of the stuff from Woody’s car and apply it to our car to make it a little better. I’d sure like it to be the 48 in victory lane, but a win for either Woody’s team or our team would be great. The majority of my guys came over with me to the 48 car, so it’s been a real comfortable situation for me to have people around me that I’m familiar with and it helps to have all the extra hands to run a two-car team.”
