ISMA Event At Forefront Of Busy Speedbowl Agenda

It’s all about variety this week, as the Bowl’ plays host to everything from the exotic Super Modifieds to Demolition Derbies.

Round III of the Wild N’ Wacky mid-week series goes green on Wednesday evening May 21 featuring the usual fare of action for the Legends, Super-X Cars, X-Cars, and X-Modifieds. Its family-priced entertainment at only a $7.00 adult admission (kids free!). As in prior seasons, Wild n’ Wacky boasts one of the highest car-counts in New England, routinely attracting over 100 competitors. Grandstands open at 5:30, with features starting at 7:00.

On Saturday, it’s the season-opener for the International Super Modified Association. Exotic winged open-wheeled machines sporting outrageous horsepower, the “Supers” remain the fastest short-track cars in the nation. Last years winner Chris Perley AKA “The Rowley Rocket”, is seeking a repeat, and will be joined by a full field of ISMA’s best. Speed is the operative word with the Super Modified crowd, so fans can look forward to a record-setting pace in the 50-lap main event. Complementing the card is a complete program of NASCAR Whelen All American Series racing featuring the SK Modifieds, Late Models, Sportsman, and Mini Stocks. Grandstands open at 4:00, with heats following at 5:00. Features take to the track at 7:00.

Point battles continue to rage in the weekly divisions. Last week’s winner Dennis Gada who’s seeking a record 7th championship, holds the lead in the SK’s, a scant 10 ahead of Keith Rocco. Not far behind is Tyler Chadwick, defending champion Rob Janovic Jr. and Justin Gaydosh. After a rough week, steady competitor Ron Yuhas Jr. dropped just out of the top-five. Yuhas is also enjoying an exceptional season in the Late Models, riding only six spots behind current leader and 2007 champ Bruce Thomas Jr. In the Sportsman, Al Stone III leads the parade, while in the Mini Stocks, its 2007 champ Ken Cassidy Jr. riding at the top.

Ending the week on Sunday is “Memorial Day Madness.” Included in the action-packed spectacle are Demolition Derby’s for both the four and eight-cylinder gang, along with the always-bizarre (but hilarious), trailer race – truly a Speedbowl original. It’s a night of destruction that’s not to be missed. Grandstands open at 4:00 with action getting started at 7:00.
