Arute, Palmer Among Wild N’ Wacky Wed. Winners

Waterford, CT — Jason Palmer won the 20-lap Legends feature on Wild N’ Wacky Wednesday.
Other feature winners were John Yagmin (Super-X Car), Curt D’Addario (X-Car), Wayne Arute (X-Modified), and Kathy Civardi (WOW Super-X).

Jason Palmer won the ultra-competitive 20-lap Legends feature. Shaun Buffington (in a car that was completely rebuilt after being totaled last week), Max Zachem, and Jay Palmer traded the lead for several laps before Palmer finally gained a slim advantage in the closing circuits. Buffington claimed a close second, followed by Zachem, George Whitney, and Carl Blandina.

In the 20-lap Super-X Car feature, Brian Norman motored to a commanding lead until a caution with 6-laps remaining bunched the field. Following the restart, Norman lost control coming out of turn-2, triggering a pileup involving several of the frontrunners. It was a three-way battle to the checkers between John Yagmin, Greg Moran Jr., and George Correia with Yagmin narrowly notching his first victory of the year. Greg Moran Sr. and Al Potter completed the top-5. With his top-3 finish, Correia becomes the point leader.

Curt D’Addario Sr. passed Buddy Strede for the lead just shy of midway in the 20-lap X-Car feature going-on to win by a wide margin over John Bowes and Brad Voglesong. Completing the top-5 was Patrick Williams and Pete Zaikarite.

Wayne Arute won the wild 15-lap X-Modified feature, a career-first. Having built a commanding early lead, Arute withstood the challenges of Dean Christensen and Kevin Shea during several late restarts. Rounding-out the top-5 was Chris Drouin Jr., and Billy Gerstch Jr. Early contender and defending champion Richard “Bubby” Brouwer was disqualified from the event following a post-race incident in the pit area.

Kathy Civardi took a dominating victory in scoring the 5-lap Women On Wheels Super-X feature.

Once again, the popular mid-week series saw over 100 cars signed into the pits.
