Rain Wins at Thompson

Thompson, CT — A persistent rain forced the cancellation of the Thursday night race program at the Thompson International Speedway. Severe weather moved in over southern New England about mid afternoon and, in spite of trying to wait it out, the weather eventually forced management to cancel the event. Since the event did not start, there will not be a rain date scheduled.

The gates to the grandstand did not open but the pit area had.  It was full of race cars at the time of the announcement. Officials notified those in the pit area that their pit passes would be honored at ‘face value’ on August 14th, the date of the New England Dodge Dealers-Budweiser 150 for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.

Grandstands for the big Whelen Modified Tour event will open at 2 PM with qualifying slated for 5:30 PM. Thompson’s ‘Super Six’ racing divisions will open the night with their feature races and the “Tour” race is scheduled for an 8:45 PM start.

More information on this event or any of the Thompson races may be found on the track’s web page. www.thompsonspeedway.com.
