Rob Summers Will Be Busy At Bowl’s Wings & Wheels

Waterford, CT — Rob Summers, who never tires singing the praises of Waterford Speedbowl, will be getting plenty of it Saturday night. Summers is entered in three of the four divisions that make up the Racing Against Cancer Wings & Wheels presented by Foxwoods and Kool 101.

The 2005 Speedbowl SK champion, Summers will be in Howie Lane’s 97 in the 50-lap International Super Modified Association (ISMA) feature. He’ll drive Gary Casella’s #25 in the 100-lap True Value Modified Series event and his own 11 in the SK-Modified 35-lapper.

A 25-lap Northeastern Midget Association race completes the action. A portion of every ticket will go to Racing Against Cancer. The gates open at 3:30 PM and racing begins at 5.

All divisions will qualify via heats further adding to Summers’ iron man efforts. “I’m looking forward to it,” says Summers. “The Speedbowl remains one of the my favorite tracks. I’m glad the opportunity came up.”

An ISMA win would complete a “sweep” for Summers. In addition to three SK victories, the last in ’06, he was a Speedbowl True Value winner in ’07. In the last two ISMA visits, both won by Chris Perley, Summers was fourth and third.

Summers will join the likes of Jeff Holbrook, Russ Wood, Dave McKnight, Mike Ordway Jr. and Mike Lichty determined to stop Perley.

A big favorite at the Speedbowl, he’ll be part of a contingent of “returnees” in the True Value race joining Ted Christopher, current point leader Chris Pasteryak, Ed Dachenhausen and Mike Holdridge. Christopher hopes to add to a Speedbowl record that includes wins in SK, Pro4, NEMA and Whelen Modified action.

Pasteryak is in a tight points battle with David Pinkham and Kirk Alexander, the latter two both winners at the Bowl as is Les Hinckley. Dwight Jarvis is another contender.

Summers is more than familiar with SK-regulars Dennis Gada, Keith Rocco, Tyler Chadwick, Rob Janovic Jr., Jeffrey Paul, Ron Yuhas Jr., Doug Coby.
