NEMA Banquet Honors Champions

Brockton, MA — Champions Randy Cabral and Tim Bertrand will be atop the honorees list when the Northeastern Midget Association caps off its 57th season at the annual Awards Banquet, Saturday night Nov. 21 at White’s of Westport in Westport, MA. Cabral drove Bertrand’s car to five victories and second straight championships for both.

Reservations for the banquet ($40 a ticket) may be made by contacting Lucille Jarret at 386 Wrentham Rd, Bellingham, MA, 02019. Additional information is available at 1-508-883-4899 or at mjlj386@comcast.net. Cocktails are slated for 6 pm followed by dinner at 7.

Cabral was one of seven different winners, joined by Nokie Fornoro (3), Adam Cantor (2), Chris Abold, Craig Stoehr, Russ Stoehr, and Jeff Horn. The battle for the owners championship – Bertrand nipped Mike Jarret by a mere four points – is evidence of how competitive a season NEMA enjoyed.

NEMA Lites competitors will also be honored. Anthony Nocella (4), Russ Wood Jr. (2), Jake Stergios (2), P.J. Stergios (2), Paul Luggelle, Anthony Marvuglio and William Wall were winners as the division celebrated its second season.

In addition to the traditional top-15 in points hardware, the Johnny Thomson Award will head up a host of  presentations. The Dick Gallalgher Memorial Hall of Fame, the Wen Kelley Memorial, Joe Csiki Memorial (Most Improved Driver), Ed Clotheir Memorial (Rookie of the Year) and Pat Thobodeau Memorial (Youth and Determination) are among NEMA’s coveted awards.
