From The Desk Of The General Manager: This is Another Canaan Fair Speedway Newsletter

Hello everyone and happy New Years! I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday season. It is now time to move full speed ahead as the 2010 racing season will be upon us before we know it!

If you have not heard the news, Wally and Janine Brown have relinquished their positions as Managers of the Canaan Dirt Speedway. They are surely going to be missed, as they did a tremendous job. I have taken over the job as General Manager, and will work hard at keeping things headed in the right direction. The 2010 Dirt Rules have been posted, and we are working hard on acquiring sponsorship for both tracks.

GET YOUR LICENSE APPLICATIONS IN ASAP

I am urging everyone to get their license applications in as soon as possible. Rates go up on February 1, 2010, from $85 to $100 at Canaan Fair Asphalt Speedway. Canaan Dirt licenses are $45. All numbers will be held until February 1, 2010. After February 1, 2010, numbers will be released on a first come, first serve basis.

SCHEDULES HAVE BEEN POSTED ON BOTH WEBSITES

The 2010 schedules for both the dirt and asphalt tracks have been posted. We feel that they are both quite ambitious, and will bring a lot of excitement to both facilities in 2010. Please remember, both schedules are subject to change. Keep checking them both as they will be updated as information becomes available.

DISPELLING THE RUMORS

With change there always comes rumors! Here are some of the top rumors and responses to them:

1. The dirt track is closing. ABSOLUTELY NOT: We are moving full speed ahead and are looking forward to a great season at Canaan Dirt Speedway.

2. The Outlaw Mini’s are being dropped from the asphalt track.

NOT TRUE: we are working with this class to try and help it grow. We tweaked the rules because there really wasn’t any to start with. I am sending out a survey to all drivers that competed in 2009 and too see if they are coming back to compete in 2010. We will make a decision on the future of the class from this survey.

3. Pure Stocks moving to track tire.

ABSOLUTELY NOT: The Pure Stocks will continue to use the same tire rule as what was used in the past. Testing will be done in the spring to let teams check out a tire for 2011. This will give all teams an opportunity to try them, and give their opinions.

RESERVE YOUR SLABS TODAY!

You can reserve your slab today for the upcoming season. You will have until February 15th to reserve the same space you had in 2009. After that they will be passed out in random order.

2010 RULES ARE POSTED

The rules for both tracks have been posted on their respective websites. Canaan Speedway management reserves the right to make changes to these rules in best interest of competition.

CANAAN DIRT SPEEDWAY HAS NEW HANDICAPPING PROCEDURES

Canaan Dirt Speedway has adopted new handicap procedures for 2010. This will be the same system utilized on the asphalt track.

Stay tuned for more updates in the near future.
