Speedbowl Continues Capital Improvement Projects

Waterford, CT — Waterford Speedbowl management continues to press forward with facility upgrade projects during the track’s 60th anniversary season.

As fans and racers alike arrive at southeastern Connecticut’s center of speed for this weekend’s events, they will notice several tons of asphalt millings spread and rolled throughout the facility. The primary driveway entering the property from Route 85, the driveway leading to the North Pit area behind turns one and two, and a portion of the North Pit area will receive the treatment. In addition, the handicap accessible and VIP parking areas will also be rolled with the product.

“We are continuing our commitment to our racers and fans with projects to improve the facility” offered track owner and promoter Terry Eames. “We hope this makes the fan and racer experience at the Speedbowl that much more enjoyable and convenient.”

The project is set to be complete for this coming weekend’s Memorial Day events, one of the busiest stretches the Speedbowl has ever hosted during its 60 years. The track will be in action for four events over five days, including Wild ‘n Wacky Wednesday, The Show and Go at the ‘Bowl Friday, NASCAR Whelen All American Series racing plus ISMA Supermodifieds on Saturday, and 97.7 WCTY Memorial Day Madness on Sunday.

Earlier this season, the Speedbowl completed an update to portions of the track walls, putting in concrete barriers along the front and back stretches of the track.

Fans should be on the lookout for additional improvement projects throughout the summer.
