PRACTICE: Newman Stays Up Front

Led Practice For The F.W. Webb 100 Thursday At New Hampshire

Loudon, NH — Winner in both of his NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour starts this year, including at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in June, Ryan Newman paced practice Thursday afternoon in advance of the F.W. Webb 100 at the “Magic Mile.”

Newman posted a fast lap of 29.255 seconds (130.193 mph) led all 35 cars entered for Saturday’s race. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series veteran won the New England 100 at New Hampshire earlier this year, and was also victorious last time out at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Todd Szegedy finished as the second-fastest car in the 90-minute session (29.389/129.600) with Bobby Santos (29.431/129.415) third.

Doug Coby, Mike Stefanik, Ted Christopher, Ryan Preece, Andy Seuss, Ed Flemke Jr. and Jimmy Blewett rounded out the top 10 fastest cars.

Newman will also attempt to defend his Coors Light Pole Award from the June race when qualifying gets underway later today at approximately 4:45 p.m.
