LRRS Back in Action for 2011 Opener

LRRS racers hit the track for practice on Friday

Loudon, NH — At speeds of up to 160 mph the Loudon Road Race Series will bring the fastest racing on two-wheels back to New Hampshire Motor Speedway this weekend for its 2011 season opener.

The LRRS riders are revved up for a season full of intense, close wheel-to-wheel action on the speedway’s challenging 12-turn, 1.6-mile road course.

Fresh off his 2010 award winning season, Sandown, N.H., native Rick Doucette returns to “The Magic Mile” looking to defend his track championship title.

Scott Greenwood, of Dunbarton, N.H., wrapped up his 2010 season with numerous trophies, including a win at the 87th Annual Loudon Classic. No stranger to winning, Greenwood looks to be back in Victory Lane throughout 2011.

“I am looking forward to getting the season started with LRRS this weekend, after a long winter,” said Greenwood. “While I was fortunate to be able to race two events this past winter, one in Florida and one in Uruguay, I am ready to get back racing at NHMS. It should be another great season of racing with friends. The competition level is so high at the front and trying to win season championships always bring its challenges. It’s what makes racing fun and addictive.”

This year, several young guns look to dethrone Doucette and Greenwood from “The Magic Mile” podium including, Alex Guilbeault of Litchfield, N.H., Shane Narbone of Tyngsboro, Mass., Brent Lyskawa, Corey Hildebrandt and Loudon, N.H. native Christian Cronin.

“I recently got a 2009 Yamaha R6 and am really looking forward to racing against the best that New England has to offer at NHMS,” said Alex Guilbeault. “I’ve been training during the offseason by ice riding, riding some motocross and working out at the gym daily, so I’m ready for the season to start. With all the new sponsors onboard for this year it’s looking like it’s shaping up to be a good year so now it’s all up to me to put my head down and give it everything I got.”

Returning for 2011, LRRS weekends will showcase a Dash for Cash race on Saturday and will feature fierce competition as the riders duel for $1,500 in prize money. The Dash for Cash race is sponsored by several vendors that participate in LRRS weekends.

New England’s U.S. Legends Car Series, the Amsoil Nelcar Legends Tour, will also kick off its inaugural full season at NHMS on Saturday, beginning approximately at 5:15 p.m. The Legend races will feature two practices, two heat races and two main events.

Grandstands will open at noon this weekend with a family four-pack costing just $20. Infield admission is sold separately. The Checkered Flag restaurant and Levy concession stands will also be open throughout the weekend.
