Eve of Destruction Goes to New Heights Memorial Day Weekend

Thompson, CT — THE annual Eve of Destruction at the Thompson International Speedway will soar to new heights when David “The Bullet” Smith, known as the Human Cannonball, gets shot high into the air from a cannon. Smith, who has performed over five thousand times around the world, is the highest flying Human Cannonball in the world. Smith’s astonishing performance is but one of many spectacular acts that will perform on Sunday, May 29th at the Speedway’s annual Eve of Destruction.

Justin Hoyer, a 2010 winter X-Games gold medalist, will bring his freestyle snowmobile act to Thompson with a freestyle back flip as the highlight of his performance. Hoyer and Smith will be joined by veterans of the automobile crash/stunt business who will thrill and amaze audiences. “Crash” Moreau and Chris Marino are both in demand all over the country due to their incredible daredevil auto thrill shows and crashes. Both performers will be at the top of their games when they roll into Thompson.

Jet powered cars, trucks, busses, motorcycles and outhouses have become a fan favorite during Thompson’s annual Eve of Destruction. The most famous jet vehicle “pilot” in the world, Paul Stender of Indiana will return to entertain and amaze fans. Big power won’t belong to just the jet powered performances. Two world famous Monster Trucks, Viper and Bad Habit, will also perform in high-flying, car crushing mayhem as part of the action-packed program.

Street bike stunts have become an extremely popular attraction and a full scale show of stunts, jumps and more is planned. Add demolition derbies for both 4 cylinder and full-size cars, the annual Trailer Trash Race and a huge fireworks display to round out this incredible night of family fun and entertainment.

Gates will open at 1:30 PM so that youngsters can enjoy a midway filled with inflatable amusements and young and old alike can take in a demonstration of Holeshot Drags that have become a weekly, Tuesday night attraction at Thompson. The Eve of Destruction program will begin at 6 PM. Admission is family priced for the holiday weekend with adult tickets priced at just $18.00. Youngsters between the ages of 6 and 14 will be admitted for only $10.00 and those 5 years of age and under are free.
