The Valenti Modified Racing Series to Invade Seekonk Speedway on Saturday, June 11th
Seekonk, MA — For the first time this season, the open wheel ground pounders of the Valenti Modified Racing Series will be heading to Seekonk Speedway for their first of three visits in 2011. It will be a 100 lap affair, with qualifying heats to set the main event.
Jon McKennedy is the most recent VMRS driver to sit in Victory Lane at Seekonk, picking up the victory in the 2010 DAV Fall Classic. Jon is also coming off a great win in NH just this prior week. He will be competing against several drivers who have also visited the famed Cement Palace Winners Circle. They include Todd Annarummo, who picked up his first series win when the VMRS visited in August of 2010, Les Hinckley, Dwight Jarvis, Les Hinckley, and Chris Pasteryak.
Rowan Pennink heads into Seekonk as the points leader in the VMRS, and is looking to add Seekonk Speedway to his win list, as he is the most recent winner, picking up the checkers at Twin State Speedway 2 weeks ago. With over 60 drivers listed on their roster, and Seekonk being a speedway that relies more on the handling of the car more than the speed, it is not uncommon to see some surprises leading the field across the stripe.
Also on the schedule will be the Late Models, Sport Trucks and Street Stocks. The Pro Stocks will be idle this week. Adult admission is just $20.00 for the main entrance. Pit admission is $30.00. The grandstands open at 4pm, with the green flag flying at 6pm. Come enjoy a great night of action at The Action Track of the East.
