PRACTICE: Szegedy Paces Field At Bristol

Two-Time 2011 Winner Looking For More

Bristol, TN — Todd Szegedy laid down the fastest lap across two practice sessions Wednesday morning at Bristol Motor Speedway in advance of the UNOH Perfect Storm 150.

Szegedy turned the high banks of the .533-mile oval in 14.682 seconds (130.691 mph) during the first practice of the day. He ended up fourth in the second session in the No. 2 UNOH/Wisk Laundry Detergent Ford at 129.579 (14.808).

Szegedy will look for his first win at Bristol this evening after finishes of sixth and fifth in the first two editions.

Justin Bonsignore, last year’s pole winner at 14.835 (129.343), topped that and all other drivers in Wednesday’s second session with a fast lap of 14.700 (14.531). That was a drastic improvement from the first session when he was 19th on the board in the No. 51 M3 Technology Chevrolet at 15.124 (126.871).

Szegedy was followed in the 90-minute first session by Bobby Santos, defending race winner Ryan Newman, Eric Beers and Erick Rudolph. The top five in the 50-minute Happy Hour after Bonsignore were Santos, Newman, Szegedy and Beers.

Qualifying for the UNOH Perfect Storm 150 is slated for 2:45 p.m. The race will air live on SPEED at 6 p.m.
