John Robidoux inherits Pure Stock feature win; Nick Ladyga returns and picks up Nick’s Pit Stop Legend win; Pacheco, Blais and Lougee repeat
Seekonk, MA — John Robidoux picked up his first win of the season in the 25 lap Pure Stock main event on Friday. John followed Randy Moretti across the finish line in second, but after post-race tech, was handed the trophy.
Bill Doyle led the first 6 laps, but was overtaken by Moretti, who led the rest of the way, and held on through a couple of restarts. Moretti started 7th in the field, but was able to use the outside and inside lanes to the front of the pack. Robidoux started sixth, but was a little slower moving through traffic, following Moretti through. The pair raced first and second for the remainder of the race. Points leader Jesse Melberg started 13th in the pack, and sliced his way through the field, moving past Bob Hinckley for third with only three laps remaining. Hinckley fell back to fifth in the running order on the final lap when Jamie Salley slid past. Chris Lima was credited with fifth in the final rundown.
In the Nick’s Pit Stop Legend Series, Nick Ladyga returned from a 2 week absence and picked up right where he left off. Nick Lascoula jumped out to the early lead in the 25 lap feature, and took off from the pack. Ladyga started seventh in the field, and sliced his way to the front. He and Lascoula raced wheel to wheel for 3 laps, before Ladyga took over for good. Lascoula was passed by Shaun Buffington and Tom Grey through the latter laps as the pack battled heavy lapped traffic. By the time the checkered flew, Buffington had caught Ladyga, but could not make a pass. Lascoula held on to fourth with Taylor Martin rounding out the top five.
In the 20 lap Sport4 feature, defending champion Kyle Pacheco picked up his second win of the season. Paul Morin led the early to mid-way before being over taken by Devin Miranda. Once out front, it appeared that Miranda may be in line for his first career victory, before a final caution came out with a handful of laps. Pacheco had moved up to second by this point, and jumped into the lead on the restart. Miranda held on for second, with David Westgate, Henry Lavallee and Ken Holbrook rounding out the top five.
Now that Austin Blais has tasted the spoils of Victory Lane, the SYRA 750 driver appears he is in no hurry to give it up. Austin used a late restart to power past Chase Belcher and pick up his fourth consecutive win in the division. Tylar Nailor and Belcher swapped the lead back and forth for a couple of laps before Chase took over. The battle for second was hot and heavy and Blais and Curtis Rolando ran side by side with Ashley Kuhn running with the pack. A late race incident knocked Rolando and Kuhn to the back of the field, and Blais took off and dominated the closing laps of the race. Rolando worked his way through the field for second, with Belcher, Kaitlyn Donovan and Willy Sanchez rounding out the top five.
Madison Birchall appeared to be on her way to her first career win as she dominated the first 19 laps of the SYRA 600 race. It wasn’t until a late race caution bunched the field up, and David Lougee was able to overtake her to pick up his third win of the season. Birchall held on for second, with Taylor Bowser, Shawn DeMello and Tyler Boudreau rounding out the top five.
