Waterford Speedbowl Wild ‘n Wacky Wednesday 8/15 Results
Event cancelled to weather just after underway
Waterford, CT (August 15, 2012) – Waterford Speedbowl fell victim to Mother Nature once again Wednesday evening part-way through its scheduled
Wild ‘n Wacky Wednesday event. Only one feature event was able to be completed before the track went into a delay in anticipation of heavy weather looming. Within moments heavy rains began, forcing the cancellation. The event was rain-checked, meaning all ticket holders from Wednesday, August 15th’s event will receive up to the value of their ticket towards any future 2012 Speedbowl event. All ticket holders from Wednesday, August 15th’s racing program must hold their ticket stubs or wristbands from the event and present them at the Box Office at a future 2012 event to receive the rain-check offer.
In racing action, Rachel Forte of Douglas, MA returned to the winner’s circle in the night’s only racing event, the 20-lap Bandolero feature. The 2011 track champion recorded the win in impressive fashion, making a move in the second half of the race to take command from Ken Morin Jr. of Old Saybrook. Forte has endured an up and down season, but looked every bit the defending champion in racing to challenge Morin just after halfway. The two spent multiple laps side-by-side before Forte pulled ahead for the win. Derek Debbis, winner of the previous five feature events in the division, wrecked out on lap-1.
Wild ‘n Wacky Wednesday returns to the Speedbowl next Wednesday evening. The Speedbowl is back in action on Friday with another ‘Sho & Go at the ‘Bowl’ featuring free grandstands admission to all attendees for spectactor drag races and car cruise show.
