Ladies Night Makes NASCAR History at Monadnock Speedway

Winchester, NH — Race fans were treated to all types of racing with the regular card featuring Mini Stocks, Super Stocks and Sportsman Modifieds; along with the with the touring divisions including Pro Fours, NE Truck series and NE 4 Cyl Pro Stocks.

History was made in the Mini Stock division when for the first time 3 young ladies have (unofficially) ended the points season 1-2-3. Kim Rivett of Chicopee Ma went into the race as the leader in points. Even though she was not able to finish the race, Kim retains 1st place in points. Beth Adams of No. Swanzey NH made a last lap pass off from turn 4 beating Mike Stebbins of Winchester, NH to the line. Her 2nd win in a row and 4th win this year has put her 2nd in points for 2012. Julia Raymond of Winchester NH came back from an early crash to put her #62 into 3rd place. Job well done by the drivers and crews.
In the NE Truck Series, Dwane Noll has got to be loving the 2012 race season. In 9 starts he has 7 wins, 3 coming from Monadnock Speedway. Andy Linderman made a break from the pack but did not have enough to beat Noll in their 25 lap feature.

The Pro Fours also ran 25 laps, and in the end Rob Richardi in the #12 blasted to the win over 2nd place Phil Lausier in the #07, and 3rd place Dan Fresh in his #32.

In the Super Stocks the points battle for 2012 championship wasn’t decided until the checkered flag flew. John Lavoie led Jason Lafleur by just 8 points going into the nights action. The finish saw Lavoie take his 9th win of the year giving him the 2012 championship. Dave Stribel raced his #71 into 2nd place and Jason Lafleur crossed the line in 3rd, giving him 2nd place in the points.

In the Sportsman Modified feature Art Heino of Newport NH won his first career feature. Heino started on the front row and used that advantage to lead from start to finish, surviving several restarts. Brian Chapin from Palmer MA came home in 2nd and 3rd was Bill Kimble of Bennington MA. Points leader Russ Hersey crossed the finish line in 4th, and Keith Carzello rounds out the top 5.

This week Monadnock Speedway will be silent while the Cup cars are at Loudon. On September 29th all the cars and stars will return to Monadnock for Super Saturday. All divisions will be run as well as the Granite State Pro Stock Series 100 lap event. Remember, the starting time for all the excitement on the high banks of Monadnock on Sep 29 will be 3pm.
