Matt Frahm Picks Up David’s House 106 Victory

Winchester, NH — North Salem, NH’s Matt Frahm will go down as the first repeat winner with the Granite State Pro Stock Series, as he picked up the win in the second annual David’s House 106. The high banks of Monadnock Speedway were the setting for the GSPSS, with 22 cars on hand to compete.

Before the leaders could even make it into the first corner, the caution came out, when several cars got together at the starting line. Austin Brehio and Dan Stolte were eliminated from competition at this point. Frahm jumped out to the early lead from his pole position and held on for the first fourteen laps until Barry Gray slid by and took over the top spot. The second caution came out on lap 18, when Jesse Smith and Mike Parks got together, with Parks hitting the tires in the first corner, ending his night.

Gray continued to set the pace after the restart, but the driver on the move was defending David’s House 106 winner Mike O’Sullivan. The points leader started eighth, and worked his way through traffic, moving into the top five by lap 23. The next caution came out on lap 30, when Jeremy Davis, who just moved into third past Phil Meany, spun. Meany was sent to the back for the assist. O’Sullivan slid under Frahm for second on the restart, and set his sights on the Belchertown, MA native. Just prior to the halfway point, O’Sullivan used a timely caution, and moved past Gray for the lead. Larry Gelinas used the outside lane to follow into third. Frahm moved past Gelinas on lap 62, and the top four ran that way until the next caution came out on lap 81, when Mike Rivard, Babe Branscombe, Phil Meany and Josh King all got together. The ensuing restart was called back when Barry Gray jumped the start, and when the field slowed, contact was made, tearing loose the rear bumper cover of Gray, forcing the former Monadnock champion into the pits.

Frahm was back into second by this point, and after a couple of additional cautions, Frahm settled behind O’Sullivan, with Davis back up to third. As they hit the 100 lap mark, Gelinas and Gray rounded out the top five.

With three laps remaining, Frahm got a run on the inside, and slid his Met-RX Chevy underneath O’Sullivan, and the pair raced side by side for the next couple of laps. As they raced under the ivory silk, O’Sullivan held a slight edge, but on the final lap, Frahm took over and picked up his second career Granite State Pro Stock Series win. Jeremy Davis tried to follow Frahm under O’Sullivan, and squeezed past for second by .008 at the stripe. O’Sullivan, Gelinas and Gray rounded out the top five.
