Super Late Models Return to TD Bank 250

OXFORD, ME — Fans and competitors alike will have the chance to enjoy a special treat for the 40th running of the TD Bank 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine. For the first time in seven years, Super Late Models will be the car of choice for the famed short track classic.

The 2013 TD Bank 250 is part of the PASS National Super Late Model schedule. That will bring competitors from up and down the Eastern Seaboard to Western Maine for the event. Currently, drivers from New Hampshire, Maine, North Carolina and Georgia make up the top five in the PASS National Super Late Model standings.

Super Late Models compete throughout the United States and Canada – so drivers who are willing to travel can come for their shot at TD Bank 250 glory. In addition to a large number of weekly tracks throughout the United States where this style of racecar competes at, there are three regional Pro All Stars Series tours featuring the Super Late Models. The PASS North tour visits tracks throughout New England and Eastern Canada. The PASS South tour races in a hotbed of racing – the Carolinas and Virginia. The PASS Northwest Tour competes on tracks in the Pacific Northwest.

Super Late Models have more powerful engines and larger tires than the cars that have raced in recent seasons at the TD Bank 250. That translates to the mighty Super Late Models having more corner and straightaway speeds. Quicker throttle response gives drivers more opportunities to dice things up in close packs of racing as well.

Oxford Championship Series Pro Late Models are also eligible to compete in the TD Bank 250. Special attention has been given to the rules for the division so that these cars can be competitive in the race – especially over long distances.

Qualifying races for the 40th Annual TD Bank 250 will begin at 2 PM on Sunday, July 21, 2013.
