Powerful Série ACT Teams Enter ‘500’

ACT International 500

The popular Quebec Série ACT has a powerhouse of veteran talent who have entered this weekend’s inaugural ACT International 500 to be held at Airborne Raceway in Plattsburgh, NY.

Three-time champion Patrick Laperle from Montreal and two-time Série champion Donald Theetge from Quebec City lead a solid contingent of winners into the $140,000.00 International 500 weekend. Theetge has the Série all-time record for the most wins with 20, and Laperle is close behind with 17 wins to his credit.

“The team is ready to head to Plattsburgh. We will do everything we can to win the $25,000 dollar first place prize. This is the kind of race I like, it puts pressure on the team to prepare the car after each segment, and it puts pressure on me to race as hard as I can. I look forward to going back to the track where I started my career”, said Laperle.

Veteran Claude Leclerc from Montreal has also entered the race. Leclerc said, “I started my career thirty-five years (35) ago at Catamount Stadium. I have been to Plattsburgh for many races over my career. I am close to 500 starts with NASCAR North and ACT, and this would be the highlight win of my career. I am excited to enter the Plattsburgh ‘500’.” Leclerc currently is in 7th place on the 2013 Série ACT.

Emerging stars and title contenders Jean-Francois Déry and recent Riverside Speedway winner Dany Trepanier will also lead the strong Quebec list of teams to Airborne.

The young guns from the Série will also make appearances. Currently, third place in points with his best season ever is Patrick Cliche. He said, “I have a second, third and fourth place finish so far this year. I am hoping I can get the number ‘1’ and end up in the winner’s circle at the International 500. First place prize of $25,000 would certainly help our team to finish out the year!!” The potent Larue racing team has its new young driver, Alex Labbe sitting in 5th place in points entering the non-point midsummer mega event. Montreal speedster Jonathan Bouvrette has experience at Airborne, and has been an early contender to win on the Série ACT during the first half of the season.
The first of the Airborne Asphalt Dirt Modified Twin 50 features will take place Saturday, July 20. The ‘Mods’ will finish their event on Sunday, July 21, 2013 when the ACT Late Models will run the richest race in the 27-year history of the American Canadian Tour. Sunday admission is $30 for Adults, kids 6-12 is $5. Gates open Saturday at noon, post time is 6:00. Sunday gates open at 9:30. Post time for Late Model qualifying is 1:00 o’clock this Sunday.
