Comeau and Hodge Top Modifieds; Harrington & Williams Best in Coupes

Pierson from 14th to win again in USAC Dirt Midgets

BRADFORD, VT –It was an action packed night at Bear Ridge Speedway as double Features were on tap in most divisions due to last week’s rain shortened night, sponsored by Dead River Oil Co. Combine that with the regular Features on Mekkelsen’s RV/Racing against Cancer night and eleven Main events were held.

The first Bond Auto DIRTcar Sportsman Modified Feature found Josh Currier taking the lead from the pole position, fending off numerous challenges from Adam Gage and Troy Comeau until Comeau finally took the top spot with just four laps remaining in the 40 Lap affair. Comeau went on to take his first career win in a Sportsman Modified. Kevin Chaffee made a late race charge from his 14th stating spot to claim second with Currier a career best third. Adam Gage and Mike Dunn completed the top five.

Sportsman Modified rookie Tim Hodge of Vershire, VT claimed his second victory of the season in the second Sportsman Modified Feature. Hodge worked his way to the front from the 12th starting position, taking it 3 wide numerous times along the way blasting into the lead with just five laps remaining to take the win. Adam Gage, who led the first 35 laps, was second with Josh Currier third again, Kevin Chaffee fourth and Eddie Patterson fifth.

Adam Pierson was tops once again in the USAC Dirt Midget Main Event As he used the topside as usual to power his way to the front from the 14th starting spot in 16 laps. Former division Champion “Flatfoot” Joe Krawiec had his best finish of the season in second with veteran Ray Miller third, Scott Viets fourth and Jamie Spaulding fifth.

The Wells River Chevrolet Sportsman Coupes also had double Features on tap with Josh Harrington taking the lead just past the halfway point from Martin Mastic and survive a couple of cautions to take the win in the first Feature with Kane Pike in tow in second. Billy Simmons made a last lap pass to claim third with Martin Mastic and Jason Horniak rounding out the top five. Feature number two for the Sportsman Coupes found Martin Mastic once again lead the early portion of the race. While Mastic led it was a dog fight for the runner-up spot with positions changing every lap. Buster Kathan finally took the top spot from Mastic on lap 23 of the 30 lap event. His lead was short lived however as Terry Williams sprinted to the lead with just three laps remaining and went on to take the win. Williams started next to last in the 21 car field. Kathan held on for second with Kane Pike third, Steve Ellsworth fourth and Jeff Robbins fifth.

Jason Giguere’s domination of the Laquerre’s Sports Limited Late Models continued as he picked up yet another win. The veteran from Lebanon, NH outdistanced Brandon Gray for the win, with Jeremy Hodge, Brian Chaffee and Tyler Stygles in tow.

Weglarz Property Service Fast Four point leader Tim Martin took the win in the three-segment, cumulatively scored “Madness” event. Martin, of White River Jct. VT, won the first two segments and finished second in the last segment to score the overall win with third segment winner Charlie Pickering second overall and Kevin Harran third. The second Feature of the night found Tim Martin once again dominate to take the win with Rob Gioia second in his first appearance of the season and Kevin Harran third.

Mike Ryan topped the field in the first KDD NAPA Ridge Runner Hornet Feature. He was followed across the line by Michael Phelps in second and Chris LaForest in third. Bobby Bell won the second Hornet Feature in a borrowed car, as mechanical problems with his mount in the first Feature sidelined him. Michael Phelps and Chris LaForest were once again second and third.
