Newtown / Sandy Hook Fire, Police, & Emergency Services to Serve as CARQUEST Fall Final Weekend Grand Marshal

Stafford Springs, CT — As the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour descends upon Stafford Motor Speedway for the 41st Annual CARQUEST Fall Final Weekend, the field will be sent on its way by Newtown / Sandy Hook Police, Fire, and Emergency Service personnel.

NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour driver Richie Pallai, Jr. struck up a relationship with the Hubbard family as the Animal Center of Newtown in memory of Sandy Hook victim Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary was his fundraising choice for the 3rd Annual CARQUEST Champions For Charities event this season. Pallai raised over $4,200 for the sanctuary and he won the CARQUEST Champions For Charities race with Hubbard’s family in attendance. Pallai has continued his fund raising duties throughout this season and through his efforts he has developed a strong connection with the Hubbard family and the Sandy Hook community.

“It’s been an amazing experience working with everyone from Sandy Hook and the Hubbard family for the past 8 months,” said Pallai. “We’ve made great strides towards making the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary a reality and we’re going to be selling Sandy Hook stickers and CARQUEST Belts and Hose tee-shirts again at the Pit Party to raise more money for the Sanctuary. Fans can stop by my #39 car during the Pit Party to make donations and get a sticker and/or tee-shirt. Lisa Arute helped get me in touch with the Hubbard family for the Champions for Charities program and that relationship has developed into a great friendship and we’re going to have Newtown / Sandy Hook Fire, Police, and Emergency Services give the command to start engines this Sunday for the Fall Final.”

The Animal Center of Newtown is an all-volunteer, non-profit rescue organization dedicated to helping animals through compassionate, no-kill programs. Created in 2004, The Animal Center runs its rescue programs entirely through a volunteer foster network. Catherine Violet Hubbard was one of the victims of the Sandy Hook tragedy last December, and since Catherine had a love of animals, the Animal Center and the Hubbard family announced plans to build an animal sanctuary in Catherine’s name. Pallai is also an animal lover, and when searching for a way to honor the memory of the Sandy Hook victims while also helping animals, the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary was a perfect fit.
