John Lowinski-Loh, Jr. Plans Waterford Run in 2014
Busy Season Ahead for Thompson Late Model Rookie of the Year
John Lowinski-Loh, Jr. of Milford, MA confirmed on Sunday that he would be competing at Waterford Speedbowl full-time in 2014. “(It’s) something new and (I) heard from my friend CJ Sherman on (Keith) Rocco’s team to come up, so I figured we will run a season,” Lowinski-Loh said.
He will return to Thompson Speedway for their seven events along with a “handful of Seekonk races and ACT Tour races.” Lowinski-Loh will enter the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Model races at Airborne, Lee USA, New Hampshire, and the Milk Bowl at Thunder Road. Additional races may be added.
With a year of Late Model experience, Lowinski-Loh is optimistic about next season. “(I’m) giving it everything I got,” Lowinski-Loh said. “2014 title at Thompson with wins, and wins at Waterford with a strong points finish; also win a few at Seekonk and a few tour races.”
Current sponsors are Auto Go Inc., Precision Speed and Custom, Pot Belly Pub, and Nat’s Racing Engines. Two businesses in Uxbridge, MA will bring additional sponsorship to the car: The Green Room Billiard Club and Upper Cuts Barber Shop. Two new team members will join Lowinski-Loh for next season as well.
Lowinski-Loh won the 2012 Thompson Modified championship on the strength of nine victories. Originally planning to defend his championship, Lowinski-Loh had to change divisions after track management dropped the Thompson Modifieds for 2013.
“(I) was kind of forced this route but happy with my decision,” said Lowinski-Loh. “… As for them dropping the division, I understand they have to do what’s best for them but the way they went about it and doing it in January was wrong and put a lot of pressure on us guys who planned on running it again.”
Lowinski-Loh won on July 11 in only his fifth start. He finished third in Late Model points at Thompson with six top-fives in nine races. Lowinski-Loh claimed Rookie of the Year honors at the annual banquet.
Beyond Thompson, he finished 39th in the Bond Auto ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. He also competed at Lee USA Speedway and Seekonk Speedway.
“At this point I love the Late Model. Good racing, more cars; I adapted quickly so I have no complaints, just fine tuning now and definitely will be a competitor for the win every week.”
