John Gates Named as NETS Announcer for 2014 Season

The New England Truck Series now has it’s own voice, and it is a familiar one. John Gates, announcer for Waterford Speedbowl and host of Overdrive Radio, will become the official announcer for the New England Truck Series as it tours speedways throughout southern New England. Gates has been affiliated with Waterford Speedbowl since 2008, calling the action alongside Matt Buckler and Dave Baribeault. In 2012 Gates became part of the staff at Overdrive Radio, a Saturday afternoon racing program on FM 94.9 News Now in the Waterford area.

“I always felt the New England Truck Series needed an announcer to get things a little more pumped up for the fans and to give more info on upcoming and past events,” said Gates. “This really is a great series and I’m excited to help it grow.”

Series Director Lorraine Pard was excited to welcome Gates to the NETS family. “John is really someone who is going to spend a lot of time in the NETS pits getting to know the drivers and their stories, and is going to bring those stories to the fans in the grandstands everywhere we race. Having John’s knowledgeable voice in the booth is an important part of being a series that fans can really connect with and want to see out there.”

The New England Truck Series first event of the season will be at the Waterford Speedbowl for their Blast Off weekend on March 28th, 29th and 30th. For more information on NETS, go to www.newenglandtruckseries.com
