PRACTICE: Bohn Sets Pace at South Boston
Whelen Southern Modified Tour Makes Sixth Visit To SoBo
SOUTH BOSTON, Va. – Danny Bohn was on top of the speed chart following the second of two practice sessions for the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour at South Boston Speedway on Saturday.
Bohn, of Freehold, N.J., turned a lap of 14.835 seconds (97.068 mph) around the .4-mile oval as teams practiced for this afternoon’s South Boston 150.
Defending tour champion George Brunnhoelzl III was second quickest, with a lap of 14.871 seconds at an average speed of 96.833 mph. Rookie Joe Ryan Osborne was third fastest, followed by Kyle Ebersole and J.R. Bertuccio. Rounding out the top 10 were Andy Seuss, Spencer Davis, Jason Myers, A.J. Winstead and Gary Putnam.
Seuss led the first practice session with a quick lap 14.832 seconds (97.087 mph), followed by Bohn, Davis, Ebersole and George Brunnhoelzl III.
Qualifying for the South Boston 150 is set to begin later today at 12:15 p.m. ET, with the race set to get the green flag at 3 p.m.
This event, which marks the sixth annual tour visit to South Boston, is the third on a 12-race schedule this season.
Seuss won the opener at Caraway Speedway, with Bertuccio capturing his first win when the the Southern Modified Tour made its annual visit to Southern National Motorsports Park. Bertuccio now has two top-five finishes to begin the year and finds himself with a one-point lead over Seuss in the points standings.
