QUALIFYING: Bohn Best at South Boston

Edges Seuss For 2nd Career SoMod Pole

SOUTH BOSTON, Va. – Danny Bohn won the Coors Light Pole Award in NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified qualifying on Saturday for the South Boston 150.

The 25-year-old out of Freehold, N.J., edged Andy Seuss, who won the inaugural tour event at South Boston Speedway in 2009, by a narrow margin of .003 seconds. Bohn made his way around the .4-mile historic Virginia oval in 14.784 seconds for an average speed of 97.403 mph. It’s the second career pole win for the 2012 Southern Modified Tour Sunoco Rookie of the Year. His first came in September 2012 at Langley Speedway in Hampton, Va.

Seuss just missed his 11th career pole and second of 2014 with a time of 14.787 seconds (97.383 mph) and will start on the outside of Row 1 for the 150-lap feature race. Kyle Ebersole posted the third-quickest lap of the session at 14.895 seconds (96.677 mph) while rookie Joe Ryan Osborne was fourth at 14.903 seconds (96.625 mph). Points leader JR Bertuccio rounded out the top five with a 14.914-second (96.554 mph) lap.

The remainder of the top 10 was made up of rookie Spencer Davis, defending race and tour champion George Brunnhoelzl III, Bryan Dauzat, Jason Myers and Thomas Stinson.

Past Whelen Southern Modified Tour champion Burt Myers missed getting on the track during qualifying and will start at the tail of the field due to an engine change.

The South Boston 150 is set to take the green flag at 3 p.m. ET.
