Nocella Wants Top 5 in Town Fair Tire 80 at Stafford

STAFFORD SPRINGS, CT — Anthony Nocella of Woburn, MA will make his second start at Stafford Motor Speedway tonight. Nocella is in his second full season driving the #92 Nocella Paving car on the Valenti Modified Racing Series. K&D Associates and Mike’s Auto Body also sponsor Nocella. “Jim, Smitty, Harry, Dennis, Kelly, Leo, my mom, dad, sister and Uncle Mike” are his team members.

“It’s only going to be my second race there since we blew up when I ran there for the Stuart’s,” Nocella said. “Last year the one race we ran we kind of struggled with handling and me getting used to the track but we’re hoping this time we can get a solid run in and hopefully get a top five.”

Nocella has one top five and three top tens in the first five events. Nocella added that his goals are to “win a few races and run in the top five every race.”

Nocella finished fifth in the SBM 125 at Star last Saturday. He will return to Seekonk for Open Wheel Wednesday race on July 23, the conclusion of the Tri Track Open Series.

“I think we’ve had good runs and didn’t have all good finishes but we’ve been pretty fast,” Nocella said. “Hopefully we can get another win soon.”

Nocella won the D. Anthony Venditti Memorial at Seekonk in his first Valenti Modified Racing Series season.

“I thought we ran pretty good for our first full year but I think we could have ran better in some races and had a few more good finishes,” Nocella said.”

Nocella will drive for the Seymour’s on a limited basis in NEMA Midget and USAC Dirt Midget Association events.

Nocella won in the NEMA Midgets for Bobby Seymour at Seekonk and Beech Ridge. A  standout in NEMA Lites, Nocella won 11 races between 2009 and 2013.
