The ‘Gobbler’ is set to take place on Saturday, Nov. 29 featuring big-block/small-block Modifieds, Open vs. Crate 602 Sportsman& Pure/Street Stocks.

Sowle Trailer Repair located in Fultonville, N.Y., has signed as the event’s presenting sponsor. “Last year’s ‘Gobbler’ event exceeded all expectations,” said event co-promoter Brett Deyo. “The racing was excellent, we had a huge crowd and the support of the racers was phenomenal. It was definitely the start of a new Thanksgiving weekend tradition of dirt-track racing in New York State.

“We’re looking at making the second edition of the ‘Gobbler’ even bigger and better.”

An early afternoon starting time will again be in place.  Camping will be permitted on-site, free of charge, on both Friday and Saturday nights (Nov. 28 and 29). Further information will be released as the event nears.

Last November, young Anthony Perrego of Montgomery, N.Y., fended off the late challenges of Stewart Friesen to win the ‘Gobbler’ Modified 50-lap event. For Sportsman graduate Perrego, the win was his first in the Modified ranks. Rocky Warner of Gloversville, N.Y., drove his crate-powered Sportsman to victory over a stout field and Charlie Houghtaling of Parksville, N.Y., registered the Ron Wright Memorial Pure/Street Stock score.
