NESST to Announce Race at Thompson

NESSTThe Northeast Street Stock Tour will announce a 20-lap points race at Thompson (CT) Speedway Motorsports Park during the rules meeting at Checkered Flag Indoor Karting in Haverhill, MA Saturday.

“(We) had a great meeting with (General Manager) Josh (Vanada) and set the race,” series official Nick Ray said. “It’s a great opportunity to showcase our teams from all over New England on arguably the biggest stage in the northeast.”

Ray said that he has received many inquiries regarding their inaugural season. “It’s been fantastic, a ton of positive feedback.”

An eight to 10 race schedule is planned, with Thompson as the potential season finale. According to the tentative schedule from the ISMA Supermodifeds, the World Series will be held October 17-18.

“By the looks of it, it very well may be the final race of the season. More than likely a champion will be crowned on that night.”

Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park will announce its 2015 schedule on December 1. The 5/8 mile oval will celebrate its 75th anniversary next season. NEAR Hall of Famer John Hoenig built the nation’s first asphalt racetrack in 1940 after his farm was destroyed by the Great Hurricane of 1938.
