November ‘Gobbler’ Leftovers To Be Served Tuesday, April 14 At Accord Speedway; Four-Division Program To Be Contested, As-Is, From Original Date; Busy Months Of April & May At Ulster County Bullring

ACCORD, NY – “Leftovers” from the 2014 ‘Gobbler’ will be served in the spring of 2015.

Accord Speedway will host the special event – postponed from November – on Tuesday, April 14 with a rain date of April 15. The entire post-Thanksgiving program will be contested, as is, in its entirety as a four division show of big-block/small-block Modifieds running 50 laps for more than $7,117.11 to win, Open vs. Crate 602 Sportsman in a $1,500-to-win 25-lap main with numerous bonuses, the Ron Wright Memorial for the Street Stock/Pure Stock division, a 20-lap feature offering $600-plus, and the Slingshots competing for $350 to win and additional cash in a 20-lap event.

At the time of the postponement in November, some 135 race cars had jammed the pit area at the Ulster County facility, including many of the sport’s top names.

All rules, procedures, format, etc. from the Nov. 29 date will remain in place. The draws for starting position will be intact. Any new competitors will tag the rear of their qualifying events.

The ‘Grandma’s Gravy’ gambler’s fees collected will be distributed to drivers in each division as advertised in November: half to the highest-finisher having posted the gambler’s fee, and the other half to a randomly selected position determined by a random draw. At the point of the postponement, the gambler’s fee totals were as follows: $420 (Modified), $340 (Sportsman), $160 (Street Stock/Pure Stock) and $100 (Slingshot).

All lap money, special awards and contingency bonuses have been retained and will be distributed to competitors in the spring.

For the rescheduled ‘Gobbler’ event, pit gates will open at 3 p.m., grandstands will open at 4 p.m., with hot laps promptly at 6 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m.

Ticket stubs and wristbands from the November event will be honored.

For new attendees, grandstand admission is $22 for Adults, $20 for Seniors (ages 65 and over) and Kids 11 and under are $5. Pit admission is $35, with no license required. Indoor seating inquiries should be directed to the speedway office at 845.626.1142.

The months of April and May will be huge for racing at Accord.

After the ‘Gobbler’ is completed in April, attention will turn to the ‘Battle of the Bullring 3’ on Tuesday, May 19 (rain date: May 20) featuring the Short Track Super Series Fueled By Hi-Tek big-block/small-block Modifieds in a 53-lap, $5,300-to-win event paying $1,000 for 10th and $400 to take the green flag. The ‘Battle of the Bullring’ is a key stop in the race for the $15,000 Bob Hilbert Sportswear North Region championship.

Open vs. Crate 602 Sportsman and Slingshots complete the ‘Battle of the Bullring 3’ event in May.
