Progressive: Lascuola Moving to Pro Stocks

Two-time Seekonk Legends Car champion Nick Lascuola of Abington, MA will be focusing on the PASS North Super Late models next season. His schedule will include the 10 New England events at Beech Ridge, Lee USA, Oxford Plains, Speedway 95, Star, and Thunder Road.

Lascuola had planned on racing his Late Model on the American-Canadian Tour and Seekonk, but decided to convert the No. 39 Crazy Horse Late Model to a Super Late Model. It was important for Lascuola to be able to race at Seekonk and he will be able to with his perimeter car. He will compete in the Phil’s Propane Triple Crown races for the Pro Stocks and Legend Cars at Seekonk.

“A big deal maker was that we can race the car down south as well and we can just race more different tracks in general, ” Lascuola said. “That seemed to be the best next move for my career and it was necessary.”

While Lascuola has frequented victory lane at Seekonk lately, he will be visiting new facilities next season. Lascuola has limited experience beyond Seekonk at Waterford, and a  pair of Legend Car races at Star. He finished 17th at Las Vegas in the Asphalt Nationals Pro (Asphalt) division.

“My goals are going to stay realistic as this being our first year with a new car. We want to go and make all the shows as well as finish in the top five in one race by the end of the season in PASS. And go for a win at Seekonk as well as try to fight for the Triple Crown championship in the Pro Stocks.”

Lascuola will have the support of his Crew Chief and father Keith, Bobby Hayden, Jesse Jack, Chris Igo Jr., and Henry for the tires. Several loyal sponsors will join the venture.

“We plan on adding a spotter and maybe another crew member, but as of now that’s the crew. Sponsors as of now are Barrett’s Haunted Mansion, Champion Spark Plugs, Midway Automotive , and Nick’s Pit Stop. We are speaking with more sponsors at the moment for next year as well. I would also like to thank Crazy Horse for all their help this past year and this offseason going into next year.”

Lascuola had his “most successful season yet, “in the Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars at Seekonk. Lascuola set an envious record with 13 wins in 16 starts, including two runner-up efforts. He won a record nine consecutive races, including seven to open the season. He captured the Phil’s Propane Triple Crown as well en route to his second consecutive division crown.

The 17-year-old driver has an incredible 32 victories since his first at the Cement Palace in 2009. That places him tied for 16th with three time champion and track Wall of Famer Don Dionne, three time champion George Murray and 1988 Pro Stock titlist John Tripp, Jr.

As a rookie in the second tier Late Model class, Lascuola finished fifth in points with 11 top fives and 16 top 10s in 18 starts. Lascuola came close to scoring his first victory with four second place finishes.
