Monadnock Speedway Season Preview
VMRS Season Opener May 2
Winchester, NH — Nine divisions will participate in the Monadnock Speedway season opener on May 2. The 100 lap Valenti Modified Racing Series race is the first time since 2006 that the quarter-mile oval opened their season. Rowan Pennink is the defending race winner. Kirk Alexander, the all-time winningest VMRS driver and a fan favorite, will return full-time to the Valenti Modified Racing Series.
The Valenti Modifieds will visit Monadnock two more times. The series will be back on July 4 for Fireworks night featuring the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions and a huge fireworks display. The final appearance is Saturday August 22 for the Victor Johnson Memorial presented by Swanzey Oil.
The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will make their annual appearance on Saturday July 25. Justin Bonsignore led the final 26 laps of last year’s O’Reilly Auto Parts 200 to score back to back wins. The tour returned since July 2010. The program will begin at 4:00 PM.
The NEMA Midgets and NEMA Lites will make two appearances this season for the Iron Mike Scrivani Memorial on June 20 and the Shane Hammond Memorial on September 5. Randy Cabral (NEMA) and PJ Stergios won last year’s Iron Mike Memorial.
The second race of the Northeast Auto Cars and Parts Tri Track Open Modified Series will visit Monadnock on June 13. The series has more than 50 drivers entered from throughout the Northeast. The NASCAR Whelen All American Series divisions are also on the program. It beings at 5:00 PM.
The Granite State Pro Stock Series will be back for two races on May 23 and August 9. The Memorial Day weekend program will include the NASCAR Whelen All American Series divisions and the Vintage Outlaws. The August 9 race is the JBH 100 in honor of John Hoyt. The New England Pro 4 Modifieds and NASCAR Whelen All American Series divisions will also be competing.
The Mr. Rooter New England Truck Series will make four appearances. The inaugural season of the North East Street Stock Tour will visit on July 11. Monadnock is the home track of the New England Pro 4 Modifieds with 7 appearances. The Vintage Outlaws will also visit twice.
The Heroes of Yester-Year and the Open Track Party will be held on Saturday June 27. Championship night is Saturday September 19, while the season finale is October 3. The speedway will also bring back the Mudbog Series from May to October.
The track will have an open practice this April 25. The pit gates will open at 9:00 AM. Practice will begin at noon for all divisions including touring series. There will be a Young Guns meeting at 3:30 PM. Rookie Young Gun practice is at 4:30 P.M, with practice concluding at 5:00 PM.
The May 2 Bond Auto Parts Spring Dash 2015 features the Valenti Modified Racing Series 100 lap event with the Sportsman Modifieds, Super Stocks, Mini Stocks, Young Guns, Thunder Stocks, Lightning Stocks, New England Pro 4 Modifieds, and the N.E. Classic Lites. The pit gates will open at 10:00 AM. Practice is from 1:00 PM to 3:40 PM. The Valenti Modified Racing Series will get 2 20 minute practice sessions. Qualifying heat races will kick off at 4:00 PM with features to follow.
