Rivet to Race Own Sportsman Modified at Monadnock

Kimmy Rivet will return to the Sportsman Modifieds at Monadnock Speedway seeking her first win and improvement in the point standings. Her best finish last year was third. She may race her Mini Stock at the end of the season.

Rivet will be racing her own 2006 Spfaco this year. She knows it will be a big learning curve for the whole team. “Last year we didn’t get to work on the Modified much when it came to the setup, so we have a lot to learn,” Rivet said.

Rivet drove last season for Rivera Racing. Rivera fully supported her and she felt she could not have raced without them. She struggled early in the season, including two blown engines in one night.

“We as a team fought through it and with the help of a few competitors to let us rent a motor. We ended up finishing out the season with the honor of being New Hampshire State Rookie for NASCAR (Whelen All American Series).”

Rivet feels that there are a lot of very talented drivers in her division, especially experienced drivers like Eric Leclair and Billy Kimball.

“It’s a privilege to race and learn from them. They are always the first to help. On the other hand, there are so many cars in the division that there always is that “big wreck” of the night. Most of the time last year we happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time when they happened. We will keep our fingers crossed that this year we will have better luck.”

Monadnock will have an open practice this Saturday, April 25. The Bond Auto Parts Spring Dash season opener is Saturday May 2, featuring the Valenti Modified Racing Series 100 lap event.
