CARS Tour Event Preview powered by KRC Power Steering: LeftturnsandSunburns.com 200 pres. by CCC&TI –Tri-County Motor Speedway

7PM June 12, 2015

MOORESVILLE, NC (June 12, 2015): The LeftturnsandSunburns.com 200 presented by Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute this Friday night at Tri-County Motor Speedway will mark the midpoint of the inaugural CARS Tour ten race season. Of the tracks already visited and those still ahead the biggest X-factor considered amongst the teams has been Tri-County. The inability to test the Caldwell County track, in addition to it being closed for the last several years, has many teams unsure of what to expect when the tour hits the track for that initial practice session on June 12th. Despite the competitor’s lack of knowledge, one thing is certain, a multi-groove race track with plenty of side-by-side racing is in store for the fans in attendance. The event with the most questions surrounding it may just turn in to the best race of the CARS Tour inaugural season.

QUOTES:

Hudson Boy in His Backyard:

Thomas Beane, a full time Late Model Stock competitor on the tour, has had this race circled on his calendar since the 2015 schedule was announced. The twenty-one year old UNCC college student hails from Hudson and grew up around the 4/10th mile track. Beane will be quick to tell you how big a deal the CARS Tour coming to town is for the motorsports community in the foothills of the North Carolina mountains.

“I’ve been looking forward to this race all season. I’m from Hudson. We’ll be practically racing in my backyard. It’s been two years since I’ve raced at Tri-County, so racing with the CARS Tour this weekend at my home track is pretty special. Tri-County always puts on a great show for the fans. It’s one of those rare race tracks that you can race up alongside the outside wall, all the way to the bottom on the inside. If you’ve never seen a race there this is your chance. You won’t be disappointed. Hopefully we can make our hometown crowd proud and give them something to cheer about.” #31 Thomas Beane – Price’s Roofing Ford Late Model Stock

Wallace Looking to Relive Old Tri-County Memories in a Super:

Steve Wallace has some impressive runs at Tri-County dating back to the old UARA Late Model Stock Series days. However; this weekend Wallace will be behind the wheel of his #66 JetTools.com Super Late Model at the 4/10th mile track, something he’s never done just like most Super competitors. Mix that with the limited testing made available to teams ahead of time due to county regulations, the door is wide open Friday night on who might come away with the hardware.

“I’m not really sure if there has ever been a Super Late Model race at Tri-County or not, and with the limited amount of track time that’s been available it could be a different race than we’ve seen at other tracks this year. I’ve always had some really good runs there with UARA, so I’m pretty excited about Friday night. It’s a track you can race from top to bottom so it should be a good show for the fans. We’ve been working on some stuff and gaining on things; I think we’ll be pretty good this weekend.” – #66 Steve Wallace – JetTools.com Ford Super Late Model

What Racing Means to Caldwell County:

The CARS Tour has taken pride in creating value with its events in every market it travels to. This Friday night’s race at Tri-County is no exception through its partnership with Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute. In addition to being the presenting sponsor of the race, CCC&TI will be on hand to promote the school and the programs it has available to offer future students.

As a presenting sponsor, Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute has many high performance similarities to that of the CARS Tour. We strive for excellence in everything we do while serving Caldwell and Watauga counties. As a NATEF accredited program, we offer both classroom and shop participation by providing the latest technology and tools to learn from. Our students and faculty at CCC&TI are excited to be part of this inaugural CARS Tour season and we cannot wait for the side-by-side racing that will be seen at Tri-County Friday night” – Roy Jennings – Director of Automotive Systems Technologies
