Krause, Boozel, Sixeas, Morgan Moore Take Wins on Lightnin’ Fast Hesston Surface!

Hesston, PA — 95 cars jammed the pits at “Motor Mountain” for the “Charlie Walter, Jr. 42” on Saturday night. Ralph Morgan, Jr. from Mount Union, Ben Krause from Morann, Eric Boozel from McVeytown, Shane Sixeas of Mercersburg and Greg Moore of Defiance raced to wins on an ultra-fast and smooth racing surface in the event sponsored by Walter’s Auto Wrecking.

The Freedom Powersports Hobby-Modifieds took center stage for their portion of the “Charlie Walter, Jr. 42” with a 24 lap championship event. Curtis Guyer lead the first ten laps before 9th starting Alex Boozel made the pass for the win and lead the remaining laps. Krause crossed the line in fourth but post-race inspecton found technical infractions on four of the top five cars moving Krause to first position and the $442 win.

In the final finish, Troy Eckenrode finished second followed by Joe DeArmitt, Denny Norris and 17th starting Brandie Mills, who was also the hard charger. Bill Replogle, 16th starting Brad Feight, Amber Mills, Brian Shaw and Zach Price rounded out the top ten. Heat wins went to Eckendrode and DeArmitt.

Alex Boozel raged from his required 15th place starting position to take the checker flag and $342 in winnings in the 18 lap Dave’s Auto Repair & Towing Roadrunner championship. Wayne Brenize lead the first two laps before newcomer Josh Frantz took over on lap three. Boozel marched to the front and took the lead from Frantz on lap nine to win his fourth feature of the season.

Following Boozel at the finish was Frantz, but tech inspection resulted in disqualification moving Brenize to second. 13th starting Nick Meyers finished third followed by Andrew Moist and Jarred Rudy, 14th starting Steve Frederick, Rusty Focht, 17th starting Zach Moist, Adam Morgan and Heath Leonard rounded out the top ten. Heat wins went to Frantz and Boozel.

The PaMS Pro-4’s visited the track for the first time and put on an excellent race in their 22 lap feature that required their point leaders to start eleventh to thirteenth. Shane Sixeas raced from his required rear starting position to take the win in the exciting feature. Jeremy Ott lead the first nine laps before eleventh starting Jason Stoner too the lead. Meanwhile Sixeas was racing from 17th and took control on lap 13 to go on the the $542 win.

At the finish it was Sixeas, Stoner and tRyan Laye, who actually also raced from the rear after a pit stop. Ott, Mike Potts, Dan Furman, Kurt Knepper, Ronnie Garlock, Lyle Barnes and Gary Newell rounded out the top ten. Heat wins went to Frankie Gordon and Laye.

Morgan won the 25 lap Semi-Late feature from his third starting position over a full field of cars. Brian Lessley, in his first appearance of 2015, lead the first lap when a caution appeared. After the restart, Curtis Heath took a wild flip on the backstraight, setting up another double file restart where Morgan took the lead. Rance Garlock, also in his first appearance of the season, took over second on the next lap and challenged Morgan throughout the race on several restarts.

At the finish behind Morgan and Garlock were sixth starting Robbie Black and tenth starting Rick Singleton in a crate motor car, with eleventh starting Eric Irvin finishing fifth. George Dixon, Jr, 21st starting Brad McGinnis, also in a crate motor car, Dillon Stake, Brad Kling and Kenny Yoder rounded out the top ten. Heat race wins went to Tim Krape, Black and Lessley. A very tight point race in the division find Singleton leading Black and Morgan by only one point.

Greg Moore won his fourth A-Cadet feature of 2015 from ninth position. Cris Edwards took the lead at the start and then battled with Moore for several laps before Moore took the lead on lap 14. Following Moore and Edwards at the finish was eleventh starting Phil Boden, Devin Weyandt and Ryan Sager.

Chad Parks, Ken Singer, Ray Reynolds, Ron Harling and Bill Phillips rounded out the top ten. Heat wins wen to Phillips and Weyandt.

The open-wheel Mid-Atlantic Mod E-mods will attack the high banks of Hesston next Saturday, June 20 for the “Revenge of the Mods.” Their 30 lap feature will pay $800 to win and $95 to start. Semi-Lates, Cadets, Hobby-Modifieds and Roadrunners will also be in action.

“Motor Mountain” is located in the scenic Raystown Lake and mountain country of central PA and provides a wonderful opportunity for race fans and race teams to make a complete weekend getaway when attending the racing events at Hesston. All fans are provided an excellent view of the action, with grandstand seating and drive-in viewing built high above the racing surface. Hesston welcomes campers and now offers in track-camping on the back straight viewing ramp.
