15th Annual Jerry Richert Memorial Saturday for FVP National Sprint League

Windom, MN (September 9, 2015) – The FVP National Sprint League and the Bumper to Bumper IRA Series come together again this Saturday night, September 12, for the 15th Annual Jerry Richert Memorial at Cedar Lake Speedway near New Richmond, Wisconsin.  As of today, over $9,000 has been added to the purse thanks to several sponsors for the event.  An open wheel tripleheader is in store, as the UMSS sprints and traditional sprints will also be in action!

There will also be a free BBQ in the pits after the races, and an autograph session starting at 4 p.m.!

Sponsors who have added to the night’s purses include: DNR Construction, Frattalone Companies, Bevlor Utilites, DMI, Gillund Enterprises, Big G Man, GRP Motorsports, Glen Erickson, Lars and Linda Larsen, Rice Creek Builders, Northwoods Home Improvement, Protofab Engineering, Reed’s Appliance, Tatnell Enterprises, Winnick Supply, Wood Co., Zuercher Well Drilling, Donahue Designs, Mastell Racing, Silver Shear, Joni and Rich, Kathy and Paul and Midwest Power Equipment.

Five current FVP National Sprint League drivers have tasted victory in the fifteen year history of the Jerry Richert Memorial.  Seven-time Knoxville track champion, Terry McCarl, is a two-time winner of the event, as is nine-time Australian World Series Sprintcars titlist, Brooke Tatnell.  Seven-time IRA champion, Bill Balog (2011), five-time Huset’s Speedway champion, Mark Dobmeier (2013) and 2014 Knoxville Raceway champion, Ian Madsen (2014) are other previous champions of the Jerry Richert Memorial.  All are expected to be in attendance.

Three NSL members have won with the World of Outlaws on the banked 3/8-mile.  Those include current series’ point leader, Danny Lasoski (1999), “The Crowd Pleaser” Craig Dollansky (2004 and 2010) and Tatnell (2005).  Other NSL members expected to attend include two-time “King of California”, Tim Kaeding, three-time USAC Driver of the Year, Bryan Clauson, 2014 Charlotte World Finals winner, Brian Brown, 2015 Knoxville Nationals World Challenge winner, Lynton Jeffrey, Austin McCarl, Matt Juhl, Tasker Phillips, Dakota Hendrickson and more!

With six races left on the IRA schedule, six drivers remain in contention for a championship.  The series has seen fourteen different winners in its last fourteen events.  Ben Schmidt is atop the point chase heading into the weekend a mere three markers ahead of second place, Bill Rose.  Scott Neitzel, Jeremy Schultz, Scotty Thiel and Blake Nimee all remain in striking distance of a title.  Others expected at Cedar Lake include Phillip Mock, Scott Uttech, Kyle Marten, Russell Borland and two-time Jerry Richert Memorial champion, Mike Reinke.

Balog won the IRA event at Cedar Lake Speedway in May, ahead of Schmidt, Travis Whitney, Thiel and Rose.

Join us Saturday as the stars of the FVP National Sprint League take on the IRA Sprints on the banked 3/8-mile Cedar Lake Speedway!
