First Ever Sprint Car Nationals Set For Devil’s Bowl

Newburyport, Mass., September 9, 2015.  There’s no question that the Green Mountain Sprint Car Nationals, to be held at Vermont’s Devil’s Bowl Speedway onSaturday, September 26, will be historic. The open-competition event is the talk of the dirt.  It will run on the 1/3-mile dirt oval inside the paved half-mile, paying a princely $3000 to win.

In support of the event, racing-book publisher Coastal 181 of Newburyport, Mass., will present the winner with the Coastal 181 Cup.  Over the last ten years the Cup has been awarded at special events at tracks including Fonda, N.Y.; Utica-Rome,N.Y.; Evergreen Park, Pa; Seekonk, Mass.; Lee, N.H; and Oxford, Me.

The Nationals event symbolizes the unpredicted but welcome return of enthusiasm for open-wheel dirt-track racing in Northern New England with groups such as Sprint Cars of New England (SCoNE) and the USAC Dirt Midget Association. It will be a thrill for railbirds to watch their local teams take on dusty racing invaders towing into the region for the first time in decades.

The show, which will start at 6:00 p.m., will also feature the Sportsman Modified, Renegade, and Mini Stock divisions.
