Robert Bloxsom, III Wins Magnus Racing Products Limited Late Model Rookie of the Year Runner Up Bonus

Stafford Springs, CT — Stafford Motor Speedway’s 2015 Rookie of the Year program will award $7,000 for its five NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions.  New in 2015 was the addition of $1,600 for the Rookie of the Year Runner Up bonus bringing the total rookie awards to $8,600.  The Runner Up bonus is provided by Magnus Racing Products and is distributed among the 5 divisions.  Taking home the Rookie of the Year Runner-Up honors and a $300 bonus in the Limited Late Model division this year was Robert Bloxsom, III, driver of the #33 Bob’s Painting Chevrolet.

Bloxsom got his feet wet in Stafford’s Limited Late Model division with a start in the NAPA Fall Final feature event during the 2014 to help prepare for his rookie season and he made the move into the Limited division after 6 seasons of racing quarter midgets.  Bloxsom got off to a slow start, but he showed gradual improvement throughout the year and he ended the season with 3 top-5 and 13 top-10 finishes.

“After racing quarter midgets for 6 years, I think the biggest challenge for me was learning the track and learning how to drive the car,” said Bloxsom.  “Going into the season, I wanted to win Rookie of the Year.  I wish in the beginning of the season that I drove a little harder because it was a bit aggravating that we didn’t win Rookie of the Year, but it was a good season for us.  I think that we learned how work better as a team and to fix and adjust the car better.  I really learned the track and I think that every time I went out I learned something new about the car or the track.”

Bloxsom scored his first top-10 finish in his sixth start of the season, and his year was highlighted by his first podium finish, a third place effort on August 7th when the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour was at Stafford for the Call Before You Dig 150.  That podium effort, combined with the experience that Bloxsom gained during the 2015 season, has him thinking big for the 2016 season.

“The podium was great,” said Bloxsom.  “The whole second half of that race I was thinking about it and I just had to hit my marks.  It felt really great for us to finally be able to get a good finish on the podium.  I’m really excited about next season.  I think we’ll be able to do a lot better than we did this season and I think we could possibly run for the championship.  We’ll definitely be able to get off to a stronger start than we did this year.  I have to thank Bob’s Painting, my Mom and Dad, Stan Bernsten, and Al Singer, and family and friends for all their help and support this year.  Also I’d like to thank Magnus Racing Products for this bonus.”

For being the Rookie of the Year runner-up, Bloxsom will receive a $300 bonus from Magnus Racing Products that will be paid out in $100 increments for the first three races that he runs during the 2016 season at Stafford Motor Speedway.
