The “New” UFo Announces First Version 2016 Schedule Introducing SuperNOVA Events

Mars, PA — The “New” UFo Championship track alliance will continue its strong momentum from its 2015 re-launch into the 2016 season. Five of the region’s premier speedways have come together for an excellent first version schedule of events for the UFo Super Late Models and the brand-new UFo Semi-Lates.

Dog Hollow Speedway, Port Royal Speedway, Tyler County Speedway will return to the UFo galaxy while Winchester Speedway and Stateline Speedway have come aboard to add to the venue and event quality for 2016. The first version of the 2016 schedule currently includes 11 Super Late Model races and 6 Semi-Late races. A few more events are being negotiated with the intention of capping off the schedule with a maximum of just four more events for each division.

2016 will mark the 6th season of the Super Late Model tour under its present format and will be the first season for the new UFo Semi-Late tour. This gives the UFo Championship the unique edge of offering two late model touring divisions at UFo SuperNOVA events. The current schedule includes five of these UFo SuperNOVA races. Drivers should note that they will only be permitted to compete in one UFo division at each event.

The 2016 season is schedule to blast off at the prestigious Port Royal Speedway with the “Tri-Star Sizzler” on Saturday, April 9. This UFo SuperNOVA event will feature both the UFo Super Lates and Semi-Lates in championship events. Port Royal’s state-of-the art ½ mile superspeedway is headed by the Juniata County Agricultural Socitey under the leadership of Steve Oneal. Devin Friese won the 2015 Super Late Model version of this event.

The 2nd UFo Semi-Late race will take place at the “Springtime Spectacular” on Saturday, April 23 at Dog Hollow Speedway. This will be a rare stand-alone event for that division. Dan Savino will be in his third year as promoter at the 3/8 mile claytrack. Dan has taken Dog Hollow to the front of the regional Super Late Model scene with strong weekly and special event car counts. The “Springtime Spectacular” will kick off Dog Hollow’s 2016 season and will include the Mid-Atlantic E-mods and Dog Hollow’s new Cadet (street stock) division in championship events.

The “Topless 51” at Tyler County Speedway will return to the UFo tour next season. This will be the second UFo SuperNOVA event of the circuit with both divisions in action on Saturday, May 7. The UFo Super Late Models will pay $3,000 to win in the Area 51-lap feature on the ¼ mile. The UFo Semi-Lates will race for $1,000 for 33 laps. Hometown Racing Association with John and Cody Watson at the wheel continues their exciting style of racing promotion at Tyler County with the “Topless 51” being their first major event of 2016.

Dog Hollow Speedway’s first Super Late Model mega-event of the year will be the “Shawn Sheetz McGarvey Championship” on Friday night, May 20. The 44 lap UFo Super Late Model championship will pay $3,000 to the winner. In 2015, Dylan Yoder thrilled the big crowd by taking the win from 20th on the starting grid.

UFo will take vacation during the month of June due to Appalachian & STARS Speedweeks. June dates may be scheduled or used as rain dates if there are open dates available.

Dog Hollow will crank it up on Sunday, July 3 with a UFo SuperNOVA event on Sunday, July 3. The “Sam Barley Championship” will showcase the UFo Super Late Models in a Area 51-lap feature paying $4,000 to the winner. The UFo Semi-Lates will race 33 laps. Jared Miley was the Super Late Model race winner in 2015.

The UFo Championship returns as part of Tyler County Speedways massive Mega-100 weekend. The UFo Super Lates will race for $3,000 to win on Friday, July 8 and then for $5,000 to win on Saturday, July 9. In 2016, each night will have a full racing program with heats, consolations and the feature event. The Renegades of Dirt E-mods will be racing for $15,000 possible to win over July 7, 8 and 9 in one of the biggest events of the 2016 summer. In 2015, Tim Dohm won on the opening night, while Jared Hawkins won on the second night with a final turn pass from his 14th place staring position.

Winchester Speedway has proudly been added to the UFo Championship circuit in 2016 with their first-ever UFo event on Saturday May 16. This $3,000 to win event should attract a strong field of Super Late Models at the 3/8 mile, high banked supertrack with its prime location in the Mid-Atlantic region and key scheduling of this race. Track owner Greg Gunter has made Winchester into a showplace under his reign with massive improvements throughout the facility.

The New Stateline Speedway made a huge comeback in late 2015 under the new ownership of Jim and Jean Scott and Brian Horner. In 2016 the track will celebrate its 60th anniversary with a huge UFo event on Thursday, July 21. The “60th Anniversary Bash” will see the UFo Super Late Models competing in a 60 lap championship event paying a whopping $10,060 to the winner. Stateline has a strong history of being a Super Late Model powerhouse and providing close racing action. Stateline will have a prime racing surface in 2016 as the new ownership has re-clayed the track this fall. The rain date for the “60th Anniversary Bash” will be Saturday, July 23.

Port-Royal Speedway’s most prestigious late model event of 2016 will again run under the UFo banner at the “Butch Renninger Championship” on Saturday, September 3. This UFo SuperNOVA race will kick off the 162nd annual Juniata County Fair. The UFo Super Late Models will compete for at least $3,300 to win with the UFo Semi-Lates in action as well. Dylan Yoder is the defending race winner of this event.

The “ThunderDog Showdown” and “Flying Floyd Kline Klassic” at Dog Hollow Speedway is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, September 23 and 24 with open practice on Thursday, September 24. In 2015 over 175 cars filled the pits for the “ThunderDog” including a regional high car count of 53 Super Late Models. Devin Friese won the “Kline Klassic” while Kyle Hardy awed the crowed by winning the “ThunderDog” from his 23rd starting position. Each night will include a full UFo Super Late Model program while the Semi-Lates will run qualifying heat races on Friday and their consolation and championship feature on Saturday.

With the unique track-alliance structure of the UFo Race Championship tour, 100% of the sponsor’s points bonus contributions will be paid out to the drivers at the end of the 2016 season in addition to the per-event track contributions. UFo is able to pay a strong point fund without the use of membership fees due to the support of these excellent sponsors.
