NWSLMS Returns To Four Partner Facilities in 2016

WENATCHEE, Wash. (December 17, 2015)– The Northwest Super Late Model Series will visit four tracks with eight races scheduled for the 2016 season. Facilities that will host the NWSLMS include Yakima Speedway, Wenatchee Valley Super Oval, Spokane County Super Oval and Stateline Speedway.

The schedule features five of its eight races as one-day shows with four tires allowed for racing.

“When talking with the drivers and tracks we wanted to focus on more of the single day shows that help teams budget for the many racing opportunities they have in a season,” said Series Director, Doug Pace. “We believe we have one of our best schedules yet and are still working with a partner to add an event for Labor Day weekend if everything comes together in the next few weeks.”

One of the most popular races among both drivers and fans in 2015 was the I-90 Challenge at Spokane County Super Oval. The race featured 32 drivers and 90 green flag laps, returns in 2016 along with an additional 125-lap race set for May.“The I-90 Challenge was one of our biggest races of the year in 2015 and we’re really excited to have it continue as a staple of the facility,” said SCSO Promoter, Ricky Nelson. “We want to have a few premier events at our track and the two NWSLMS events in 2016 will be some of our top events of the season.”

The Leonard Evans 150 will still be featured during the Apple Blossom Festival weekend in Wenatchee and be one of the track’s premier events of the year.

Stateline Speedway will feature the 17th Annual Idaho 200 as one of two stops for the Series in 2016 at the Post Falls facility. The fast quarter-mile track showcased some of the best races in 2015 and will look to continue in 2016. Stateline will also feature the Idaho Tune Up 150 in June.

“Our Fans really enjoy seeing the big names come to town and race against our local guys.” Said Stateline Speedway manager, Dean Boever.

“We have some great things planned in 2016 for both fans and drivers during our races and we are really looking forward to having the series back.”

Two-Time Defending Series Champion, Garrett Evans, will look for is third consecutive championship in 2016, but will have a slew of competition in his way. Young 16 year old Brittney Zamora of Kennewick, WA will be moving up to a full-time ride in the series for 2016. Other drivers looking to contend in 2016 include two-time runner up Mitch Kleyn of Quincy, WA as well as 2015 Series Rookie of the Year Glenn Knutson. Young gun Luke Selliken of Portland, OR will run for a championship along with Bothell’s Jason Ogle.
In 2016 the champion of the Northwest Super Late Model Series will not only take home the prestige of a regional touring title but will also walk away with a minimum cash award of $8,000. Cash awards will also be given out to drivers in the second through tenth place positions in the year-end points standings. Along with the cash awards a Port City Chassis will be up for grabs from Chuck Caruthers Race Cars, full body kits from Five Star Race Car Bodies and AR Bodies. Additional prizes and cash awards are continuing to be sought to add to the already posted awards for 2016.

These awards along with continued support from Hoosier Racing Tires, JOES Racing Products, Atomic Screen Printing, BLP, Frank’s Radio and Longacre Racing Products should make the new season and the race for the championship more enticing to drivers from across the Pacific Northwest and Western Canada.
