Alan Chambers To Run Full Season in NEMA Run Part Time In NEMA Lites

Alan Chambers out of Atkinson, NH will be doing double duty this season as he will run full time in the NEMA Midgets in hoping to improve from his 6th place finish in the point standings. He will also run a limited schedule on the NEMA Lites side. He plans on having a few of the top Pro Stock, Modified, and Super Modified guys in the car that they are currently scheduling to have for the remainder of the season. They will release the names in conjunction with the promotions for the races as they approach. They will have Joe Scanlon in the Lites car at Star Speedway on Saturday night May 21st for the Butch Walsh Memorial.

It was a tough start to the season for Alan and his brother Jim in the NEMA Lites race in the Icebreaker at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park. “ My brother looked like the car to beat until he got involved in an incident. As far as my race, it was more of a shake down on the new Lite car. We found some things handling wise that we have fixed so it should be a contender at the next event.” Chambers Said

The full NEMA Cars is what the Chambers will be focusing on this season. They are the cars they have fun the past few seasons. They feel they will be confident on opening day to be strong. They will go down to test at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl this Sunday. The Speedbowl hasn’t been the strongest track for Chambers. The biggest thing they are hoping to find is a little comfort in the short run handling.

Last year was Chambers first full season in the NEMA Midgets for his brother Jim it was his third season. Chambers felt that he and his brother were both fortunate enough to have no major damage to their cars. The season started slow for Chambers. For him it was all about learning the new car and new tracks he was going to be racing at. As the year went on, he continued to get more comfortable and the stronger finishes were coming each week. Chambers would finish with Rookie Of The Year in NEMA and get Most Improved Driver. He is hoping to build on that this season.

The NEMA Midget that Chambers purchased was from Alan and Adam Cantor.  Alan had passed away last year. There will be a Memorial Race for Alan Cantor at Riverhead Raceway on Memorial Day weekend which will be held on Saturday May 28th.  Chambers remembers both Allen and Adam being very helpful even before buying the car from them. Chambers has always ran a Beast Chassis and the Cantor’s gave Chambers a good starting setup. From there anytime Chambers needed anything or had a question. The Cantor’s were more willing to put Chambers in the right direction.

The tracks that Chambers is looking forward to this season is Star and Monadnock in New Hampshire.  He is a fan of the smaller tracks. The season finale for NEMA and the NEMA Lites this season will be held at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl on Saturday October 22nd.  Chambers likes the idea of having the season finale at the Speedbowl.  “ I think it’s great. We race there a few times this season and the whole field is always very close in lap times. I think it’s great for the series to the have the championship decided at a race that could be won by anybody.” Chambers Said

Chambers would like to thank the fans and promoters first. He feels if it wasn’t for them. He would not have the opportunity to do what he loves and that is racing. His parents for getting him into racing and giving him the chance to drive in top notch equipment. He would also like to thank his sponsors Mac’s Auto World, Michael Chambers Auctioneers, G Murch Enterprises, Synergy Signworks, Circle Performance Engines, and Checkered Flag Indoor Karting.

Chambers goal’s for this season is to get a win in the full NEMA division and finish Top 5 in points. The NEMA Midgets will kick off their 2016 season at Star Speedway with the Butch Walsh Memorial on Saturday night May 21st. The NEMA Lites will be apart of the program at Star Speedway as they kicked off their 2016 season at the Icebreaker at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park.
