For the Fans Night Provides the Most Bang for the Buck for Racing Fans at Thompson

THOMPSON, CT — Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park (TSMP) will have a busy night of racing on Saturday, July 9 as six divisions take to the track including Thompson’s four NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions, the Lite Modifieds and the North East Mini Stock Tour. Not only will this be the only weekend night race of the summer, but it will also be one of the most affordable as well at just $12 a ticket. In addition to a night of action-packed racing, there will also be a free fan raffle giveaway, bounce house for the kids, live concert by country singer Timmy Brown, and concession stand specials.

The action will kick off with the Lite Modifieds who will be returning for the second time this season to the 5/8 mile paved oval. Tony Membrino, Jr. has won the last two events that the Lite Modifieds have run at TSMP, and has also been having a successful season at Stafford Speedway where he currently sits at the top of the standings.

The N.E. Mini Stock Tour will also be making their second visit to TSMP this season with a 20 lap feature on Saturday night. Their first event at TSMP took place in April on the 1.7-mile road course, which saw Nick Maniatis prove his strength on the challenging 11-turn circuit. Maniatis currently sits 7th in the standings, with Haywood Heriott at the top, in the lead by 16 points.

Next on the roster will be TSMP’s Late Model division. William Wall started off the season with an impressive four-race winning streak, only broken when Larry Gelinas won the first race of the Late Model 20/20 Sprint. Although William Wall leads the standings, former champion, Rick Gentes is not far behind in second, due to keeping his nose clean and several strong finishes earlier this season.

Dave Trudeau is another competitor that has seen a winning streak in TSMP’s Mini Stock division, with 3 out of 4 under his belt this season. His streak was just broken at the last event when Wayne Burroughs Jr. made a dive-bomb move on the last lap taking him from third to first. With several strong finishes under his belt, Burroughs trails Trudeau by just 12 points in the standings.

Keith Rocco on the other hand has maintained his run of visits to victory lane in TSMP’s Sunoco Modified division, with a perfect four win record this season. He has not been without challengers however. Xfinity Series driver and former TSMP champion, Ryan Preece, may have a busy schedule but that hasn’t stopped him from returning to run his #31 Modified at Thompson where he currently sits second in the standings. Ronnie Williams, whose car is owned by Keith Rocco, has also shown consistent top 5 results placing him just a few points behind in third.

The last race of the night will feature the Limited Sportsman division which has already seen two first-time winners in Victory Lane this season, Phil Jacques and Brent Gleason. Josh Wood currently sits at the top of the standings with an 8-point lead, earned with his wins in the first two races of the season.

The event will also count toward O’Reilly Auto Parts Triple Crown points for the Limited Sportsman and Mini Stock competitors.

For the Fans Night will take place on Saturday, July 9 at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park. This event features a special discounted admission of just $12 for adults. Kids 12 & under are always free. The gates will open at 3:30 PM and racing will begin at 5:30 PM. For more information, visitwww.thompsonspeedway.com.
