Tour Type Modifieds Return to Evergreen Raceway this Sunday

St. Johns, PA (8/8/2016)- Round number five of the seven for the Tour Type Modifieds at Evergreen Raceway is just around the corner. Thus far the series has been dominated by Northampton’s Matt Hirschman. However, several area hot shoes have high hopes of changing that when the 50-lap event kicks off on Sunday, August 14

A number of top notch race teams are excited about returning for the next round of action, which will pay $2,000 and $175 to start (if 16 or more cars take the green flag). A wide variety of others are anxious about competing at the speedway for their very first time. Since round number one, the car counts have grown and the fans are always excited to feel the ground rumble when the open wheel powerhouses are on the track.

There’s no doubt that the 50-lap show will be another great show for the fans. The first round was exciting, as Matt Hirschman of Northampton, PA took the victory over Anthony Sesely. Hirschman took round number two as well, with Austin Kochenash finishing as the runner up. Kochenash wasn’t happy with second and drove his way to victory in July.

Along with Hirschman, only one other driver has finished in the top five in all of the Tour Type Modified events so far. Like Hirschman and with consistent top five finishes, Brandon Oltra of Alden has a career-best second place effort in July and he knows that it’s just a matter of time before he gets to hold the checkered flag. There is a two tire rule in effect for the show, meaning that all competing drivers must purchase at least right side tires at the track and they must use the same set of tires for both the heat and feature events. The right side track tire is the Hoosier 1330. Drivers are allowed to compete with the Hoosier 1320 or M20s on the left side of their cars. Tires are available at the track and can be purchased by cash, check or credit card (3% fee processing fee applies). The tire shipment for this event has arrived and there will be plenty of Hoosier tires at the speedway come race day. Drivers from the Evergreen Modified are invited to participate as well.

Drivers will pull pills for starting positions in a 10-lap heat race. The top nine qualifiers will redraw for starting positions on the front stretch at intermission and the remainder of the field will start straight up in the 50-lap main event, which will start a maximum of 24 cars.

The Tour Modified payout is posted on the left hand side of the speedway website, directly under the “Payout” button.

Grandstand admission for the August 14 Tour Type Modified event, which also has the Dirt Modifieds, Street Stocks and Four Cylinders on the card is just $15. Children 10 years of age and younger are admitted for free with a paying adult. The pit gate will swing open at 10:30 AM and the pit entrance fee is $30 with a pit license or $40 without. Practice will kick off at 12:30 PM and heat races will begin at 2 PM. The grandstand gates will open at noon
