Victory at Road America for Brandon Gdovic

China Grove, N.C. (August 8, 2016) – Tied for the lead in the ProAm division of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Series, Brandon Gdovic arrived at Road America focused on one goal: Winning. In not only Gdovic’s first trip to Road America but the Super Trofeo Series’ as well, Gdovic made this desire a reality by holding off encroaching competitors on his way to victory.

The weekend started out strong for Gdovic and the DAC Motorsport team after the 24-year-old drove his ComServe Wireless Lamborghini Huracan to fifth-fastest overall and third-fastest ProAm in practice. The speed carried over into qualifying as Gdovic secured the fifth starting position for Round 5 and the third starting position for Round 6.

As Race 5 of the Super Trofeo North American Championship got underway, Gdovic wasted no time advancing position. By midrace, he was up to third position overall. With only 2 slower cars to pass, Gdovic was primed to go for the lead when the caution flag flew with under ten minutes remaining. But with track clean-up taking longer than anticipated, Race 5 ended under caution with Gdovic finishing third in the ProAm Class and third overall.

Starting from the third position overall for Race 6, Gdovic looked to capitalize on his qualifying efforts. He pit early, a strategy that has proven advantageous in past races and by midrace, he was gaining on the leaders. With 15 minutes remaining, Gdovic powered past a competitor to take over second position overall. Gdovic, unaware, fellow ProAm driver Trent Hindman began to close the gap on Gdovic as the laps dwindled down. Gdovic countered this advance by laying his fastest lap times of the race and holding off Hindman on his way to victory.

Brandon Gdovic Quotes:
“I had a good few days at Road America this past weekend. I felt like we got robbed of a win in the first race due to the last 10-15 minutes being run under yellow and the race ending under caution. Because of this, I ended up third in class and overall in the first race. Thankfully, we went caution free for the second race and I ended up first in class and second overall. Not a bad weekend and had fun making my first trip to Road America. I am looking forward to a home field advantage at VIR in a few weeks. I would like to thank ComServe Wireless, American Messaging and WindStax Wind Power Systems for being on board with us this weekend. Their help is greatly appreciated!”
