Eddie Macdonald Prevails in Pro All Stars Series Icebreaker at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park

Thompson, CT – Eddie MacDonald, New England’s full-bodied “outlaw” race driving star, nailed down his second career Pro All Stars Series victory Sunday afternoon, outrunning 14-year-old PASS newcomer Eddie Fatscher of East Northport, New York in the 75-lap Icebreaker for Super Late Models at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park.

MacDonald earned a front row starting spot with a heat race win on Saturday and swapped the race lead early in the event with two-time and defending PASS North Super Late Model champion DJ Shaw of Center Conway, New Hampshire.  Soon Fatscher, the 2016 INEX Legends Cars Young Guns National Champion, made his presence felt, duking it out with MacDonald’s Exit Realty-sponsored 17, owned by Dave Lemieux, and the Precision JLM 60 of reigning series champion Shaw.

Late in the race MacDonald seemed to have things under control, though Fatscher raced close behind.  Shaw managed to prevail in a late-race battle for the final podium position versus multi-time Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park Super Late Model champion Derek Ramstrom of West Boylston, Massachusetts.

Derek Griffith drove a steady race from his 17th starting position to claim a fifth-place finish, the first time in three Super Late Model appearances at Thompson that he did not finish in second place.   Garrett Hall of Scarborough, Maine, the 2016 PASS Icebreaker winner at Thompson, was sixth.  Six-time PASS North champion Johnny Clark of Farmingdale, Maine; Joey Polewarczyk of Hudson, New Hampshire; Dave Farrington, Jr. of Jay, Maine and reigning PASS Super Late Model National Champiion Ben Rowe of Turner, Maine rounded out the top ten.

Saturday afternoon Icebreaker heat race victories were posted by Shaw, MacDonald and Hall.

The next Pro All Stars Series National Championship event is the 12 Annual Easter Bunny 150, scheduled for this Saturday afternoon, April 15, at Hickory Motor Speedway in Newton, North Carolina.  The next Pro All Stars Series North Super Late Model race is set for Saturday, April 22 at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine.  For more information visit proallstarsseries.com or call (207) 539-8865.
