Claremont: One 2 Go – Race # 11 – 80’s Night w/ NEAR & Street Stock Showdown Series

The 80’s. The greatest decade ever! Nintendo, MTV, Indiana Jones, Apple, boom boxes, and the list goes on and on. We celebrate the decade as the New England Antique Racers bring their vintage race cars back to familiar haunts as many of those machines will be making their return to what was once Fleury Farm.

In addition to the drivers of years past, the new Street Stock Showdown Series touches down for their first-ever visit. Originally scheduled to be their inaugural event on June 16, Mother Nature rained on that parade forcing the series to kick off at the biggest venue around, New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Corey Hutchings won the event as part of the New England Short Track Showdown.

The R.E. Hinkley Super Streets and T-Bird Mini Mart Wildcats will also be in action as part of the night’s race card.

Pop up those collars, peg your jeans, break out the Aqua Net, and get to the track early and play along with our 80’s trivia beginning at 6:40 PM.

It should be a radical night!

Story Lines for the Week

  • Turf War – Will one of the Pepsi Limited Sportsman have enough to win the $ 500 in the Street Stock Showdown Series race and defend their turf? There are a couple of drivers entering the event and one or two may be a surprise.
  • Five Fingered Discount –Zach Lyn carried the checkers to his 4th win last week, tops at the speedway. This week he will have to start in the back of the pack so he will have his work cut out for him. Will he steal his 5th win of the season?
  • Baby, It’s Cold Outside – Game time temperature is forecasted to be the lowest it’s been all season.
  • Get Your Point Across – While Dana Smith and Zach Lyn have some breathing room in their points’ battles, the same cannot be said for the Limiteds and Super Streets. The Limiteds are off this week so they will have 3 races left on the schedule when they return next Friday. The Supers are a different story. “Radical” Ricky Bly is 14 points up on Dylan Bodreau and 19 on Jack McClay. Hayden Scott sits in 4th only 31 points behind and then the Craig Smiths are next with the rookie down 56 and the “Original” minus 63. Every position in the heat races are 1 and features are 2.

Next week, September 8, is Superhero and Comic-Con Night at the track. Dress as your favorite superhero and get in the grandstands for only $ 5. The headliner of the night is the Daddy’s Pizza Twin 30’s for the Casella Modifieds. They will be running for an increased purse and segment bonuses. The NorthEast Race Cars Tri Track Open Modified Series has also thrown in bonus money for any driver who has competed with them this year as well. Grandstand admission is only $ 10 for this event. Our Supers, Limiteds, and Wildcats will also be racing.
