Claremont: Ten Stories of 2017 – Bly Caps Radical Season With Championship

12/30/2017 — Good things sometimes take time. Sunapee, NH’s Ricky Bly knows that all too well. After finishing as the runner-up in last year’s point standings and a couple of times prior in past seasons, Bly captured his first-ever track championship this season in this 17th year of competition. Bly finished ahead of Dylan Bodreau by 37 points when the final checkered flag fell on the season.

On the way to the Super Street Championship, Bly won 3 feature races (T-1st), led 87 feature laps (2nd), won 3 heat races (T-4th), recorded an average finish of 3.86 (1st), and gained the most positions from start to finish with 117 – a speedway best. Ten podium finishes, 11 top 5’s, and 13 top 10’s in 14 races highlighted the champion’s season. By comparison in 2016, Bly won 5 features, only seven podiums, nine top 5’s, and 15 top 10’s in 17 races.

Congratulations to Ricky on his first-ever championship.
