Jim Darlington Memorial Race at Seekonk Speedway

Jim Darlington, the man with the infectious smile will be remembered during a race presented in his honor as part of the U.S. Prostock/Super Late Model National Championship Race, on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at Seekonk Speedway. This Pro 4 Modified 25 Lap race, sponsored by Dave Lind Racing, is a tribute to a man who spent most of his life in motorsports. As a racer, Jim competed at many race tracks around New England, including the now-closed Norwood Arena & Westboro Speedway. His driving included Late Models, and most recently in a Pro-4 Modified. Jimmy and his brother Jack fielded the numbers 72 & 73 Pro 4s. When he decided to end his driving career, Jim remained a car owner, turning the driving duties over to Randy Cabral of NEMA fame. “Rarely do you meet someone who always had a smile and would easily engage in conversation; he was a really good guy. The motorsports community lost a great friend with his passing; special thanks to Bill Galloway and Dave Lind Racing for their support and sponsorship of this event”, said Gary Sagar, race promoter.

Jim Darlington, who achieved a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University, was an employee of Dave Lind Racing. “Jim was the most dedicated, dependable & reliable worker you could have. He started for Dave Lind over 30 years ago and became a full time partner 15 years ago. He was a happy go lucky guy that everybody liked and he loved racing and most of all the people he would meet along the way. He used to brag about how many race tracks he would go to in a week and how many miles he would drive…especially to the UPS driver; the UPS driver would have more tops but Jim would have more miles. One of Jim’s favorite sayings was “We’re not here for a long time…we’re here for a good time” said longtime friend and co-worker, Bill Galloway of Dave Lind Racing. “All of us who are tied to the Pro 4 division are saddened by the loss of Jimmy as a friend, competitor and supporter. Hopefully, we can show our support for him at Seekonk on Wednesday, July 18th”, opined the founder and current Pro-4 Modified Club President, Dan Meservey.
