Carson Macedo Dominates All-Star Sprint Debut at Weedsport

Matt Sheppard Notches 20th Career Big Block Win at Weedsport

WEEDSPORT, NY (June 10, 2018) – A beautiful evening and near-capacity crowd welcomed the All-Star Circuit of Champions 410 Sprint Cars and the DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds to Weedsport Speedway on Sunday evening with Carson Macedo and Matt Sheppard reaching Victory Hill.

Macedo dominated the first ever All-Star event to be held at Weedsport, worth $5,000, leaving a terrific battle for second between Paul McMahan and Danny Dietrich.

McMahan would emerge as the runner-up over Dietrich, Aaron Reutzel and Parker Price-Miller in the front five positions.

Greg Hodnett, Tony Stewart, Chad Kemenah, Mike Mahaney and Larry Wight would fill the top ten.

A total of 28 410 Sprint Cars were in the pit area on Sunday.

The DIRTcar Big Block Modified portion of the night’s program saw Sheppard start seventh with Wight taking the early race lead over Tyler Trump.

By lap-12 Sheppard moved into the runner-up position and eventually worked by Wight for the lead just beyond halfway and never looked back.

Sheppard’s win was worth $2,500 and was his 20th career Big Block triumph at Weedsport and his 15th win of the 2018 season.

Wight came home in second over Pat Ward, Trump, Ron Davis III, Brett Hearn, Jimmy Phelps, Chris Hile, Alan Johnson, and Max McLaughlin.

Trump and Davis III were impressive in top five efforts, competing against the Big Blocks with 358 powerplants.

A full recap will be posted on June 11.
