North East Mini Stock Tour Heads into New England Short Track Showdown on a Roll

Three Different Winners in Four Events Starts Out the 2018 Season

The smallest racecars that will make up the second annual New England Short Track Showdown at New Hampshire Motor Speedway are riding a king-sized wave of momentum into this coming weekend’s event. So far in 2018, the North East Mini Stock Tour is seeing a season where there have been three different winners in the first four events and a total of 41 competitors who have entered a race this season.

Multi-time NEMST champion Emerson Cayer started out the season by winning the opener at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway (ME), while Nick Anderson was the winner of the next event at Claremont Speedway (NH).

The busy month of June started out at Star Speedway (NH) where Nick Maniatis won in a 50-lap race with only one caution period. Cayer scored his second victory of the season on the following week in the Tour’s first visit to Hudson International Speedway (NH), where he made a backstretch power into the lead and on to victory lane. Only two caution periods were in that 50-lap event.

New Hampshire’s own Cody LeBlanc has not won a race yet this year, but he has been a regular visitor to the podium. LeBlanc currently leads Cayer, Anderson and Maniatis in the standings. His average finish through the first four races is 2.5 and he has not finished outside the top three all season.

Dozens of drivers from through New England are expected to enter the NEMST race during the New England Short Track Showdown. The competitors race sport compact cars that are based on familiar street cars. Both front and rear wheel drive cars are used on the tour and a few of those machines include the Acura Integra, Chevrolet Cavalier, Dodge Neon, Ford Mustang, Honda Civic, Nissan Sentra SE-R, Nissan 240 and Volkswagen Jetta.

The second annual New England Short Track Showdown will take place on Saturday, June 23rd and Sunday, June 24th. Tickets and pit passes are available online. The link to the ticket sales can be found by visiting NorthEastMiniStockTour.com or on the New England Short Track Showdown Facebook page.
